Does anyone here enjoy paintball?
#22541 to #22491 - loveyameanish (06/21/2012) [-]
I got shot on my bare thumb while paintballing once. Genuinely thought it was going to fall off, the pain.

I still love it though :3

the thumbs do suck when they get hit, ever get the pinky?
User avatar #22545 to #22543 - loveyameanish (06/21/2012) [-]
Nope. Is it bad?

My boyfriend was being a little sneaky sniper once though, and he thought someone was on the roof of the little hut he was hiding in because he heard something so he looked up and was shot straight through the porthole window and hit under his chin. Slickest shot EVER.

Getting hit in the pinky makes it more useless then before and makes it kinda hurt when you use your ring or middle finger. I posted a little lower i got hit in the after a match because some kid was pissed he lost that hurts like hell

What kind of paintball marker do you own?
User avatar #22497 to #22495 - boxdrop (06/21/2012) [-]
ive had the same 98 custom since i was 16, before they started making them out of plastic. set up to kinda look like a scar. You?
User avatar #22500 to #22497 - aerosol ONLINE (06/21/2012) [-]
So, is it just a hobby for you or do you play competitively?
User avatar #22503 to #22500 - boxdrop (06/21/2012) [-]
played a few times competitively but never went to big in to it, i do wanna go to a D-day game they play them in Texas and Nevada and hundreds of people get together for them
User avatar #22498 to #22497 - aerosol ONLINE (06/21/2012) [-]
I fairly new to the sport. Mine is a JT Outcast. It's nothing special. Just something cheap to learn with.
User avatar #22501 to #22498 - boxdrop (06/21/2012) [-]
if you find a good group to play with and you start to get really into it, its an expensive hobby but so much fun and be careful with some guns like spyder gets good reviews but everyone i know who gets one they ens up leaking air no matter what we do, mines older then all of theirs and i had the problem once. Autocockers also dont like to work properly unless you know a lot about them
User avatar #22504 to #22501 - aerosol ONLINE (06/21/2012) [-]
I think you right about Spyders. My older brother had a Spyder that he handed down to me. It started leaking the first time I used it. I tried to get it fixed, but ended up losing it instead. Damn shame, considering it was free.
User avatar #22505 to #22504 - boxdrop (06/21/2012) [-]
at least it was free, people pay up to 500 bucks for those things just to have it leak after the first time they use it. i am a bit biest when it comes to the guns, ill always suggest tippman (ones not from walmart) mainly because ive never had a problem with them
User avatar #22508 to #22505 - aerosol ONLINE (06/21/2012) [-]
The first time I used my Outkast(also bought from Walmart), it had some presumably minor problems. Whenever I fire it, multiple paint balls come out. It's supposed to be semi-auto only. Has that ever happened to your 98 custom?
User avatar #22512 to #22508 - boxdrop (06/21/2012) [-]
not with the 98, it normally happens because the stop is plastic and if its to soft it will just let another through. Be carefully for the second one breaking in the barrel, if its not meant to shoot out 2 at a time it can end bad
User avatar #22519 to #22512 - aerosol ONLINE (06/21/2012) [-]
Fuck. Here I was thinking:"There's probably just something wrong with the loader. That should be easy to replace." I guess $80.00 wasn't enough to buy a halfway decent marker. Well, if and when it breaks I'll probably replace it. Other than Tippman, what other modestly priced brands would you buy from?
User avatar #22524 to #22519 - boxdrop (06/21/2012) [-]
BT and Proto are pretty good. Had a proto for a while dont know what happened to it and a few people have just had good things to say about BT

Any tips for a beginner? I'm going Saturday, don't want to get shredded too badly, you see.
User avatar #22534 to #22529 - boxdrop (06/21/2012) [-]
well make sure you stick to some sort of cover, try to make sure if you go with a friend you stick together because it does help to have each others back and don't be afraid to get hit or shoot. depending on the hopper your using it should hold at least 100 and depending on how many people are playing you will have some shots you dont need to worry about. you got two teams of 5 thats 5 targets and 500+ paintballs per team. if either of you plan on playing more often id suggest getting the tubes for extra paintballs you can go to wallyworld and get two tubes that hold 100 and they come with a belt and pouch. and dont do what i did, duel wielding never ends well

Appreciate it, I'll report back on saturday with a bruise/body count.

But dual wielding looks so cool in the movies. :(

thats what i thought between movies and videogames i thought it would be awesome and my friend was being a wuss so i said screw it and took his gun but got hit so much, guarded my junk with the guns and my own team took a few shots at me for fun after i had already gotten lit up, it didnt get good reviews on it but here. I was also half asleep and a little drunk when i made it, it happened that same dayfunnyjunk.com/funny_pictures/3601959/Boss+for+5+seconds/
User avatar #22538 to #22537 - spoonless (06/21/2012) [-]
Well, at least it seems like you had a laugh ^^
Unfortunately, I have the mentality of your friend. :/
User avatar #22539 to #22538 - boxdrop (06/21/2012) [-]
if your worried about it first off dont, the places they hurt most is face and crotch so long as your not one to hit the floor and cry if you get by something you should be good, if your playing at an actual place they make sure the guns are calibrated so they dont hit to hard and well you always want a mask or helmet if its just a helmet wear a hat under it just for a little extra protection if your worried about it getting you somewhere like in your elbow wear something with sleeves at most it will sting for a little bit and you'll have some bruises. If nothing else it will toughen you up and i did shoot my friend in the parking lot when we were going to leave all he had to say was "i was being a bitch about that wtf"
User avatar #22540 to #22539 - spoonless (06/21/2012) [-]
I know, I mean if people say it's that awesome, the pain musn't be all that bad right? :P
User avatar #22546 to #22540 - boxdrop (06/21/2012) [-]
that just one of the very few downfalls of the game, at the same time remember if you hit someone and you get hit then they are experiencing the same they are (couldnt reply to #22544 we have gone to far down the thread)
#22542 to #22540 - boxdrop (06/21/2012) [-]
not at all, worse i got was after a match some random asshole was pissed because it came down to me and him somehow i got around him and hit him. After the match he shot me in the jaw i had my helmet off and it hurt pretty good but the bruse went awway after a few days and it stopped being sore the next day (the backs of my helmets)
User avatar #22544 to #22542 - spoonless (06/21/2012) [-]
