A short rant:
I'm not particularly into sports.
I never watch any sport on TV, I never read news or scores that have anything to do with sports. I don't even care about hockey, and that's a lot coming from a Finn.
However, IT'S NOT ******* SOCCER! IT'S FOOTBALL YOU ********* !!! JUST WHY THE HELL CAN'T YOU CALL HANDEGG ''AMERICAN FOOTBALL'' OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT? YOU ALWAYS SEEM TO LOVE YELLING THE WORD ''AMERICAN'' EVERYWHERE, WHY NOT USE IT NOW WHEN IT WOULD ACTUALLY MAKE SENSE?
Ok, rant over.
INB4 *********

Why does it matter so much?
We speak completely different languages in other countries and what we call a sport is bothering you?

Football is a genus consisting of many species: association football, rugby football, gaelic football, american football, canadian football, aussie rules football etc. Just because your country is so uncultured that it only has one type of football shouldn't prevent the rest of us using the species name to avoid confusion. "Soccer" is actually more correct. Calling it football is analogous to calling an animal a "cat" and then getting angry when someone tells you its actually a tiger.

For all we know you could have made the whole article on it or just some idiot is, in England it is known as just "rugby" and is quite possibly the manliest sport going.

See you are starting to get the point. In NZ rugby union football is known as "rugby", rugby league football as "league" and association football "soccer" aka "football" - if you are foreign or pretentious. All three are often colloquially called "footy". The soccer/football debate has been ongoing and the news media here generally refer to it as "soccer football" to appease the masses. As for the term "rugby football" you may wish to consider your national body the RFU and what the "F" might stand for. Glad to see you are a fellow rugby player though and condolences on the absolute dicking handed to your lads last night.

I do apologise, I thought you were from the U.K and were just being ignorant, I'm not English, I'm Irish by the way. Don't support England's team.
