Does anyone else here want to keep saying that you are religious, but feel that you are losing your faith? Feeling this right now.

It actually grows for me, but yet it feels sometimes like I'm losing it.

I wouldn't say I'm losing my faith, but sometimes I feel sort of numb about it. Like, I wish God would give me some sort of inner warmth or comfort so that my faith feels more emotionally substantial. I mean, I can observe the Holy Spirit working in me, but I just don't feel the contentment I expected to be associated with it.

define faith please it's something I never quite understood

well in my case, your general belief in God. didn't really make that clear, I apologize.

it's fine! believe as you will but do you know how the bible was created? it was the Jewish bible but it was edited heavily to exclude the parts which were too mad or dangerous and add new parts

That's interesting! are there any versions floating around that aren't edited at all?
User avatar #12652 to #12631 - zlamous (02/23/2013) [-]
thebritishguy is almost completely wrong. i rebutted some of his claims in comment #12644 and #12651

you in no way proved me wrong, you said you have faith that the people who created the bible got it right and Jesus died long before the bible was written so what you have no idea what he actually said in fact some of his speech's are forgery of another God named Horus who was exactly like him in pretty much every way but he came first
User avatar #12790 to #12655 - teoberry (02/24/2013) [-]
learn to check facts dumbass.
User avatar #12802 to #12790 - thebritishguy (02/24/2013) [-]
there were different stories formulating around Horus this is one of them and is still taught in Iris church's, this story was made before the books of the bible including Jesus were written
User avatar #12808 to #12802 - teoberry (02/24/2013) [-]
I only found the one story, not your crap. And google's giving me nothing on an Iris church, so I'll call bullshit on that aswell.

There's no reason to believe that the 'lost books' of the Bible were inspired by God. like i said, the contain historical inaccuracies and unbiblical practices. they were rejected for a reason.
User avatar #12669 to #12656 - thebritishguy (02/23/2013) [-]
there's no reason to believe in any of the stories, the books that weren't in the canon are just as valid the reason why they edited stories out is because it was in some old mens judgement that the books weren't what they wanted to teach to Christians
User avatar #12750 to #12669 - zlamous (02/23/2013) [-]
contemporaneous historical documents confirm every event of the Bible. the book of acts is an extremely accurate account of history.
User avatar #12761 to #12750 - thebritishguy (02/23/2013) [-]
myths work on explaining things that have happened because there is no logical explanation, it would make sense that they are (fairly) historically accurate
User avatar #12767 to #12761 - zlamous (02/23/2013) [-]
every testable claim of the Bible has been proven accurate. you reject the supernatural claims because of your presupposition of atheism. you'll never accept any evidence that contradicts your worldview so this conversation is pointless
User avatar #12768 to #12767 - thebritishguy (02/23/2013) [-]
I have accepted that Jesus would have existed when at first I didn't so don't be so prejudice, the Tower of Babel story and the idea of agriculture being invented in like one day and then the bronze age coming only a little bit later has been proven wrong.
User avatar #12657 to #12656 - zlamous (02/23/2013) [-]
they*
User avatar #12650 to #12631 - thebritishguy (02/23/2013) [-]
no, how they wrote the bible is they looked at many Hebrew myths such as Noahs ark and then Christian leaders met up and decided which books should be put into the bible, but the Hebrew myths are still out there they are very interesting to me. I know of one story which was the original Adam and Eve story (skip to 2:06)
