There's a fine line between telling others about your beliefs, and being an asshole.
There's no proof there is a god, but at the same time, there's no proof that there isn't one, either. So you can't argue that atheism is right, and all religions are wrong, or vice versa, because neither side has evidence.

I am not arguing atheism is right. I am arguing their beliefs are more logical and probably right because they base their beliefs off of measurable information. And to understand that religion is likely the creation of man, we need only observe history.
If I am an asshole, so be it. It won't worry me any. If I hat to chose to be an asshole or ignorant sheep, I would choose asshole.

i disagree with a few of the points. i would argue that rather than religion closing you to spiritual thought, it actually exposes people to the notion of spiritual thought more than if they didnt have an organized religion, causing them to think about things like the origin of the universe and life after death more often and not in fixed ways (depending on the person of course).
I reject religion, but I often wonder about the universe and creation.
But I don't agree that it makes them think more, for instance in The Bible, it is all explained. God created light...the end. I think it serves to keep people close minded to the rest of the thinking world, but expands their mind to think within their own happy universe that is their religion.

I tend not to get along with religious folk period. I learned this the first time I questioned the scripture during mass as a child. Boy did I learn real fast not to question the lords word...oh wait, the event only compelled me to search deeper for answers.
