The average person sympathizes with the plight of people in those countries you've listed, but we don't feel a connection with them. A lot of us grew up with Robin Williams being a huge part of movies we loved. Movies that influenced us, made us laugh, and made us cry. That's like comparing the death of one of your good friends, to a guy who lives on your street that you've never met. Apples to oranges dude.

The difference is Robin Williams contributed to society in one way or another, affected all our childhoods in a positive way, and not only had his own charities but donated massive ammounts to others as well. Those nameless people were ultimately unknown and chances are they would have contributed nothing to the world around them.

Throw all the hate you want at me, just remember the electronic device even if you built the pc yourself, the hardware still counts you use to thumb me down was built by a 10 year old child in a third world country. Don't see you mentioning that.

People knew Robin Williams a whole lot more than random people in Gaza, Ukraine, or Syria.
