Mitt Romney says 47% of Americans pay no income tax.
Everyone gets angry at him.
Funny thing is, he is right.

It was technically correct, but the way he said it implied that those people were evil nasty baddies, when in honesty many have real and excusable reasons for tax amnesty.
Romney is just a poor speaker. He says stupid things and doesn't think about it. But Obama said fantastic things and didn't live up to them.

That's not why people are angry at him. It's old news that 47% of American's don't pay income taxes. The full quote was this:
"There are 47 percent who are with [Obama], who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it. That that's an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what."

The majority of the 47% who don't pay income taxes still work and pay payroll taxes - they just don't make enough money to qualify for income tax. A good portion of the 47% is retired, and most of the rest of them are unemployed, students, or very poor.
It's ridiculous to draw conclusions about people's political views and personal beliefs based on their income level. Just because people are poor or retired doesn't mean they believe they are victims, think they're entitled to services, or will vote for Obama "no matter what".
Romney basically indiscriminately derided nearly half of the population based on the fact that they are poor.

Does anyone really believe that Romney was addressing 47% of the population? Like, really? I mean do you REALLY think that he believes 47% of the country are lazy shitlords? Or do you just think it was an embellishment/miss speaking at a private fundraiser? Because common sense leads me to believe the latter.
Oh, it was almost certainly rhetoric. Romney has a well-known record of saying things he didn't really believe in order to pander to a particular group. I have seen people claim that this time he actually meant it because he didn't know he was being filmed, but considering he was talking to a group of wealthy donors at the time, I don't think that's likely.
The point, however, is that you just can't say stuff like that about 47% of the population. Especially if you want to be the President of 100% of the population.
