Aside from all of the obvious positive affects , would legalizing marijuana have any negative affects?

No

Simply look at precedent (by precedent I mean Portugal and Czech Republic)

People are against legalizing marijuana among other things (social issues) because of ignorance and because it goes against the status quo

and marijuana will not not be legalized for a very long time. If anything it might be decriminalized and the only reason that hasn't happened is because the US government would end up looking like total failures that have waisted billions of dollars on a war they knew could not be won (sound familiar)

I feel that it would lead to a slippery slope and kids would be able to get it much easier.

People abuse illegal substances for various reasons, including the simple cases of just to do it and to get high. People also abuse legal substances for the same reasons. It all comes down to personal responsibility, and even though marijuana is safer than cigarettes and alcohol, Americans, for the time being, simply do not possess the social responsibility to handle the legalization of any current illegal substance.

laws regarding whether or not someone is legally under the influence of marijuana would be hard to make making driving under the influence of it easier and probably increase ccar accidents.

also, for stoners, they would crack down on illegal distribution and underage consumption probably.

america just isn't ready yet, we have to get more organized about it. there are more issues than it just being a drug.

Increase of driving under the influence, as THC, the active chemical, alters your brain so it cannot fully function which behind a wheel can be deadly just like alcohol.

Potential negative affects, hmm I guess you'd see a lot less people on benefits a general rise in mental health disorders (Ha more money for me) would it be government regulated, because that still doesn't stop people under the age of 18 getting access to Cannabis and screwing their minds up. (Even more money for me)
