What political system do you favor and why?
#604 to #371 - N. Korean citizen (06/13/2012) [-]
The only type of system guaranteed to work is one where the people running it truly want it to work and aren't just there for their personal gain. I think finding the perfect system is more of a social issue rather than a political one.
User avatar #644 to #604 - HAPPYGIRAFFE (06/13/2012) [-]
Well, shit. That is one of the best things I have ever heard.
User avatar #402 to #371 - oddesy (06/12/2012) [-]
Democratic.
#384 to #371 - drmcninja ONLINE (06/12/2012) [-]
Ideally? A hobbesian Leviathan state. Realistically? No fucking clue. Everything has its flaws, and it doesn't look like any system is faring well at the moment. Even China's power-elite single party system hasn't stopped their economy from slowing.
User avatar #387 to #384 - HAPPYGIRAFFE (06/12/2012) [-]
No political system works because either someone gets fucked over or people exploited it.
User avatar #399 to #387 - mcstorms (06/12/2012) [-]
You sir deserve a god damn medal for that comment
User avatar #414 to #399 - HAPPYGIRAFFE (06/12/2012) [-]
Thank you. But it's true. That's why I don't follow any specif political party. I stand for individual rights as long as it has the consent claws.
User avatar #416 to #414 - mcstorms (06/12/2012) [-]
Agreed. Every party has it's ups and downs.
User avatar #420 to #416 - HAPPYGIRAFFE (06/12/2012) [-]
Well, I believe American Capitalism could work, if our system and people would hold their ground and not let money buy them out, like now.
User avatar #433 to #420 - mcstorms (06/12/2012) [-]
For our system to work we need honest people something are government is lacking. For one the federal government asserts itself as more dominet then the state government. WHen they should be equal further more congress is way to powerful despite the check/ balance system
User avatar #435 to #433 - HAPPYGIRAFFE (06/12/2012) [-]
Exactly, man. But I don't believe in State rights, I believe in individual rights.
User avatar #436 to #435 - mcstorms (06/12/2012) [-]
The states grant most of our individual rights though.
User avatar #438 to #436 - HAPPYGIRAFFE (06/12/2012) [-]
True. But why would we want one right in one place, and not the same in another? I believe we shouldn't focus on state's rights, but on individual rights.
User avatar #571 to #438 - mcstorms (06/12/2012) [-]
Good point
#388 to #387 - drmcninja ONLINE (06/12/2012) [-]
Well then you have anarchy, and I personally believe that government is superior to that. I just haven't found the government that I feel is best yet.
User avatar #392 to #388 - HAPPYGIRAFFE (06/12/2012) [-]
Yeah, but if there's anarchy, nothing stops me from creating a new government to rule. Also, as an individual, nothing stops me from killing and destroying everything.
User avatar #374 to #371 - mcstorms (06/12/2012) [-]
A Monarchy.
User avatar #397 to #374 - lecherouslad (06/12/2012) [-]
I disagree.
User avatar #398 to #397 - mcstorms (06/12/2012) [-]
Cool
User avatar #400 to #398 - lecherouslad (06/12/2012) [-]
Monarchy, didn't stop WW1, what makes you think it can protect you?
User avatar #401 to #400 - mcstorms (06/12/2012) [-]
I don't Government shouldn't protect it's people it should serve it .
User avatar #403 to #401 - lecherouslad (06/12/2012) [-]
if you want someone to serve you, why don't you hire a domestic servant?
A government is an organization that you pay to protect you( that's oversimplified version)
User avatar #406 to #403 - mcstorms (06/12/2012) [-]
Government is a person or people who run society in a certain place. If we need protection we can do it ourselves. I want my government to just make sure it's people are happy.
User avatar #407 to #406 - lecherouslad (06/12/2012) [-]
and with a monarchy, the King/Queen, tends to satiate their own desires. So how is it an equitable government?
User avatar #408 to #407 - mcstorms (06/12/2012) [-]
Magna carta Limites the power of the king and queen. With the right limitations I belvie it can work
#410 to #408 - lecherouslad (06/12/2012) [-]
I suppose putting all the power in person cuts out the possibility for a bureaucracy, I mean what could possibly go wrong?
<(What could go wrong)
User avatar #411 to #410 - mcstorms (06/12/2012) [-]
If you limited their power that couldn't happen Hitler was an absolute dictatorship
User avatar #412 to #411 - lecherouslad (06/12/2012) [-]
who limits the power? In Monarchy, no power rivals the King/Queen's.
(can't say "people", because you've given up your rights so that the Gov't may better serve/protect you.)
User avatar #413 to #412 - mcstorms (06/12/2012) [-]
I can too say people. We have given up no rights. the king is their to guide and serve. Without a his people a King is nothing, but a present. It is yin and yang.
User avatar #417 to #413 - lecherouslad (06/12/2012) [-]
Well, if people hold power over the King/Queen, isn't that position a wasteful expenditure? he/she is practically a middleman, if the people will eventually implement their will regardless of his ruling?
in addition, If the people are making decisions, isn't that a democratic system?
User avatar #434 to #417 - mcstorms (06/12/2012) [-]
No.
The King / Queen makes the laws. The people have the right to revoke any law deemed unfit. So long as it's just. For instance the King wants to pass a law allowing murder the people revoke that law.

The system isnt perfect I have only thought about it as you are asking me these things.
User avatar #439 to #434 - lecherouslad (06/12/2012) [-]
you realize, this sounds suspiciously like a system already in place in the world.
IE. Executive, and Legislative branches of the American gov't system.
User avatar #570 to #439 - mcstorms (06/12/2012) [-]
I do, But the president is limited far to much while congress can do whatever they god dman feel like doing.
