Ok, here is my question, what do you guys think of democracy?
I think it's the fairest system, but people don't do it right as they tend to vote the same political parties instead of voting the one they believe in (although I think it's very hard to believe in any).
Besides, there are too many stupid people voting (maybe I could be one of them, I'm not talking like if I was a clever one). I mean, I have seen homosexual people voting a political party which is against them, people who vote for paying more while they are not that rich and people who vote for something that harm them...
I will make clear that I don't mean to be supporting a dictatorship, as I'm in favour of freedom of expression and I hate wars and seeing people getting killed just because they don't believe in that ideology...

All systems of government (or lack thereof) are terrible. Democratic ones are just the least terrible.

But it is not a real democracy when people vote a political party just because they don't think theirs will be chosen... I don't really believe democracy exists, we don't do it right

It's still a real democracy, just not the best form of democracy. The word "democracy" is fairly broad and covers quite a few systems.

But it sounds like a democracy that uses something like approval voting instead of our current system might be closer to what you consider "real democracy".

Damn right. Its not that western nations are bad, but we just don't care about what could be done for the betterment of our nations and others, because we still expect politicians to adeqautely do their jobs and give the rest of us an easier time.

I find that funny, as in my country most of people have voted someone they knew they were going to make them work more and get paid less, while that man is enjoying as hell with a salary of millions of euros... people get paid less, but no one touches his money, and I'm sure he could give giving thousands...

With the veil of information governments ply their policies behind, I happen to think that in my own country there is a majority who don't have the capacity to understand, but that's Ireland for you. Its been the long-standing tradition for families, or fathers, to rely upon a career in an industry or trade, a work all day and sleep all night routine. Beyond the hours, bills and football to amuse themselves with, there wasn't much time to get down and study economics. Which is why I think there wasn't a majority of citizens out to publicly execute our leaders when the recession hit, and why the Dail didn't have its windows bricked in when they had the nerve to bring on a second referendum for the lisbon treaty.
