I'm libertarian, so at times I wonder "Why do we need a government at all?". But then I remember how important a rule of law is. What would people do if they could not support their family? They would steal from other families. With no police then what happens? The person with the most strength wins. That's not quite fair is it? So you need laws.
Who would defend against other countries' armies? Anarchy assumes there is little to no organization, including in defense. Sadly humans seem to love war, so you need defense that would protect everyone within a countries boundary.
Lets go back to the original situation. A family has some of their food stolen by another family. There is no law to say what the first family did was wrong. But say there is, how can this law be upheld? We need a court system.
- Defense
- Lawmakers
- Law enforcers
- People to lead over these government agencies.
- A government institution responsible of managing a single currency, otherwise there will be hundreds of useless currencies. This central bank also would need to insure deposits in banks so that people are not afraid to deposit their money.
I dislike the fact that government is needed, because it is incredibly inefficient and "steals" our money in the form of taxes. But drastically limited government is what I see best.

Ah, so you favor minarchism, which is basically what you just described, anarchism with the very basest in security. I like that, but I believe in "natural law", i.e. human morality. I'm aware of the problems surrounding a society without written law, but say those in an anarchist colony had children, and raised their children with libertarian methods, then those children did the same when they have children, and on and on. I believe true anarchism is something that is achieved.

Basically, lets say some people start an anarchist colony, and those people have children. They teach their children about their anarchist ideals and such, and when those children grow up, they do the same with their children, and so on and so on.
Ok, I am still not sure I am following exactly why you are telling me this sequence, what is the effect of it? I think I may know but I don't want to make an idiot of myself and talk about something else... So clarify more please? Are you talking about the law bit?

Yes, basically with more generations raised as anarchists, crime should occur much less often, because the greed and contempt that causes these crimes are often the effect of poor parenting, or something like that. I'm not exactly thinking as clear as I could be right now because I'm about to have a panic attack.
Alright, that's what I thought but wanted to make sure. I personally don't believe that would be true. I am sure if humans as a whole are raised so that they don't do harm to others then they will be nicer people, but there are always people who slip through the cracks. There will always be people who drunk drive, people who kill others because of their own stupid mistakes (perhaps arson), and people who end up going to extremes because they are near-death. And I hope I don't have to argue with you about this, I think greed is a very inherent part of human nature that at its very root can never be eliminated. That's why we need laws, also since some families may not raise their children to be model citizens.

It's absolutely nuts and will never work.
Nice ideas (no taxes, no politicians), terrible, terrible ignorance of reality (society inevitably moves toward a government of some sort, because we need it for society to function).

I dunno, if you've got three families, either they're gonna spend almost every waking moment just staying self-sufficient (which isn't fun at all), or they're going to start wrorking together, and are going to get some way to coordinate their efforts, maybe a weekly meeting. Except wait, it's no longer anarchism because that meeting is essentially a government for the little commune.

That's cool. We have differing political views and it was fun to discuss them with you, but I don't think this conversation can continue without it getting so abstract as for pwople to think we're high.
