Alright, i guess i could drop the bowling ball for the shitstorm.

There has rarely been any bigger defeat in history than the Americans' in Vietnam. I mean, how do you lose when you got choppers and Agent Orange versus militia with spades and rifles? It's ridiculous!

To be honest, the US had never fought in those sort of conditions ever. Even though they did experience jungle warfare in the PTO in WW2, it was pretty straightforward, enemy on one side, ally on the other, with a "front line".

In the jungles of Vietnam, however, the front line was a 360 degree area around the soldier, at all times, with the enemy possesing superior knowledge of the area. How do you think the American Revolutionary Army defeated the British Armed Forces, which was the ruling global superpower at the time?

Well in essence the guerrilla fighting tactics of the Vietnamese soldiers simply outplayed that of the american troops. This coupled with the fact that 90% of the troops didn't want to actually be there ended with us "loosing."

Sorry, no shit storm.

would there be shitstorms if i said the troops committed crimes against humanity with the spreading of genetic disorders in infants and the bombing of villages?

if not, i give up, this board is made of people waiting for shitstorms and not wanting them..

No i don't believe so. This is completely true. In Vietnam the dropping of agents blue and orange pretty much perpetually fucked every subsequent generation of Vietnamese. The war crimes committed by american troops are sometimes likened to conditions of the Holocaust, and though i do not agree with this, i do see the parallels and recognize that the atrocities were horrendous and that there is a perfectly sound string of logic leading to this opinion.
As to the second part of your comment. I'm fairly certain that once the hubbub about new boards dies down there will be a strongly opinionated base of FJ'ers much like myself who simply wish to have a conversation about political agendas, rather than watching shitstorms. Though the occasional troll such as ccozena may appear they will be thumbed down into oblivion and i strongly believe this board will become one of the more civilized and proper boards, with facts backing up claims, and users passionately debating about their beliefs.
