i don't believe it would work. I am a libertarian and i believe people can do whatever the fuck they want as long as they aren't infringing on anyone elses rights.

I say we try it! I'm an anarchist, I've studied both what it is and the history behind it, and I say that anarchism is a very workable system. :)

Well it has worked in the past, look up the CNT/FAI and the spanish revolution. Lasted a few years, but a war was being waged against fascists at the same time, and In fear of the people's revolution the republicans betrayed the anarchists and attacked them also..

Also many pre-civilization theories bring up that anarchism was the way people lived, but civilization is a domesticating process, of plant, animal, and human mind... As long as there is civilization as we know it, anarchism won't live to it's full potential.

It doesn't work. I am libertarian and I still don't believe in it, you NEED a government to uphold the law and defend it's people and possibly guarantee deposits in banks (otherwise people would never deposit money). I do think there should be maximum freedom to do whatever the fuck you want (as long as it doesn't harm others).

You're talking about victimless crimes?
User avatar #1325 to #1318 - airguitar (06/17/2012) [-]
Gay marriage, drugs, organ donations, etc should all be legal yes (although for smoking, I believe that it can be argued you are contaminating the air for others so there should be only certain places you can). Abortion is obviously questionable but I am more lenient to the side of being legal in the first trimester- there are benefits related to them.

Yes, and there are many other things having to do with drugs I find despicable: namely "civil asset forfeiture".

There are certain drugs that wouldn't harm anyone else, like weed. You don't hear about people high on weed going out and robbing banks or killing people. I'm not a pot head myself, but I do think that if our government would stop piling money in order to prevent to usage of marijuana and legalize it and tax it, well that's obviously self explanatory. And I'm against abortion with the exception of rape and incest, if you put the effort into making a child, you can put the effort into raising one. But I agree with you fully and hope that there is more Libertarian views out there such as yours.

In my opinion, alcohol is the most harmful drug. So why is it legal? It's almost arbitrary at times. I do think weed should be legal, though I dont use it, but I don't think it should be taxed by the government for the simple reason that I don't think the government should tax anything. When the government taxes something they are bringing down overall economic prosperity.

Abortion is very shaky. I think many people will try to give themselves abortions though if it is illegal, which is VERY unsafe. Another interesting point is that after Roe V Wade, the homicide rate when down, by A LOT. So by having those fetuses "killed" you are possibly saving other lives.

>inb4 tax on weed won't immediately revenue money.

would only work in micro-communities, if you ask me.
User avatar #1424 to #1302 - ryanirishkraut (06/18/2012) [-]
That's the whole point behind anarchism; decentralized and loose organization of communities who interact with other communities (trade, communications, ect.) based on mutual agreement.
