Showdown is a competitive battle simulator, meaning that the point of it is to battle others with perfect pokemon and nothing else
If you want to train your pokemanz there are other games that are more like the RPGs

Well, dont do the same thing as Showdown...
Showdown is only for battles, those let you catch, trade, train, battle gyms etc
