What was the most annoying pokemon battle you ever had. Mine was during a Wi-fi battle when my opponent had a darkrai and used hypnosis on my pokemon. He killed my whole team using bad dream and Nightmare.

I got haxed out by a mother fucking Jirachi.

I did much raging that day. So much rage.

in pokemon ruby and emerald, when you battle the leader of team magma's goldbat, holy shit it is difficult.

Norman's Slaking, but it could've been worse if Slaking had the ability Guts, held a Toxic Orb, then spammed Facade for 4.5 the usual damage
User avatar #2710 to #2633 - elbrysobrony (06/10/2012) [-]
protip: Pokemon with Protect or Detect or Substitute downright SLAUGHTER Slaking.
User avatar #2639 to #2633 - gnifle (06/10/2012) [-]
Why does everybody but me seem to have problems with Norman's Slakings? I Usually win in a couple of rounds with no real problem...

What's the big deal :D Not sarcastic - want explanation :3
User avatar #2641 to #2639 - dragontaming (06/10/2012) [-]
Do you have any idea how high Slaking's attack is? The exact same as Regigigas
User avatar #2645 to #2641 - gnifle (06/10/2012) [-]
Then I must've been lucky somehow... :P
User avatar #2646 to #2645 - dragontaming (06/10/2012) [-]
Sableye is the only way I've been able to beat Norman's Slaking in Ruby and Sapphire, but in Emerald, I had to resort to Toxic/Protect/Double Team/Sand Attack with a Sandslash, due to it having Faint Attack in Emerald but not RS.
User avatar #2648 to #2646 - gnifle (06/10/2012) [-]
If i remeber correctly, I just used Breloom's Sky Uppercut a few times, while Slaking kept loafting around... Easy-peasy? :P
User avatar #2650 to #2648 - dragontaming (06/10/2012) [-]
So you had a Breloom 5 levels higher than the Slaking was.
User avatar #2652 to #2650 - gnifle (06/10/2012) [-]
I guess so... ;D
User avatar #2654 to #2652 - dragontaming (06/10/2012) [-]
That'd be an achievement if it wasn't for it being a higher level
User avatar #2656 to #2654 - gnifle (06/10/2012) [-]
I always goa little higher than the gym leaders... But still, all Slaking was doing was not obeying Norman, so I didn't really feel the pain :P
User avatar #2657 to #2656 - dragontaming (06/10/2012) [-]
What the hell do you mean it wasn't obeying Norman? 'Slaking is loafing around' is due to it's ability, Truant. It can only attack every other turn
User avatar #2658 to #2657 - gnifle (06/10/2012) [-]
My bad... No need to get mad ;D
Anyways, doesn't that make it quite easy?
User avatar #2659 to #2658 - dragontaming (06/10/2012) [-]
No. See below this comment, at comment 2643
User avatar #2660 to #2659 - gnifle (06/10/2012) [-]
Well, I can't prove you wrong... Haven't had much difficulty myself :)
User avatar #2663 to #2660 - dragontaming (06/10/2012) [-]
No using Attract, or paralyzing/burning/sleep on the Slaking either
User avatar #2661 to #2660 - dragontaming (06/10/2012) [-]
Try this: Start Ruby or Sapphire all over again, don't use a single Ghost Pokemon, don't use a Breloom, and don't use moves like Growl or Sand-Attack on Norman's Slaking.
User avatar #2664 to #2661 - gnifle (06/10/2012) [-]
I'd use Makuhita → Hariyama instead... :3

Nah, JK... Sounds like quite a challenge ;)
User avatar #2666 to #2664 - dragontaming (06/10/2012) [-]
Even harder, try doing it with just a Marshtomp, like I did
User avatar #2668 to #2666 - gnifle (06/10/2012) [-]
If i can't be at least a few levels higher than Slaking it would be impossible :P
User avatar #2669 to #2668 - dragontaming (06/10/2012) [-]
Near impossible, but I did it with just a lvl 29 Marshtomp. 4 times
User avatar #2662 to #2661 - dragontaming (06/10/2012) [-]
And not a single Pokemon can be a higher level than Slaking
User avatar #2643 to #2641 - dragontaming (06/10/2012) [-]
They also both have a stat total of 670, the highest of any Normal types. Also, Slaking has the third highest base Attack of any Pokémon in any game. It is tied with Regigigas and is surpassed by Rampardos and Deoxys's Attack Forme.
At 670, Slaking has the highest base stat total of any non-legendary Pokémon, tying with the legendary Pokémon Groudon, Kyogre, and Regigigas. This makes it the only non-legendary to have a base stat total of over 600.

In double/triple battles he's pretty much a beast among beasts, isn't he? That is, if you have another mon with Skill Swap.
If I remember correctly, the Emerald rematch with Norman has him using a Spinda to Skill Swap his Slaking.
User avatar #2719 to #2709 - dragontaming (06/10/2012) [-]
Yes, he does do that. But, if in a triple battle, skill swap is used enough to get Slaking the ability Guts, and the Slaking is holding a Toxic Orb, well, lets just say Facade won't be pretty
User avatar #2724 to #2719 - garaichu (06/10/2012) [-]
I think you mean Facade turns into "Murder-everything".
User avatar #2730 to #2724 - dragontaming (06/10/2012) [-]
Except a Ghost Type. Unless Foresight was used
User avatar #2732 to #2730 - dragontaming (06/10/2012) [-]
Or if it goes up against a Bold natured, sturdy body characteristic Shuckle that is EV trained for defense
User avatar #2743 to #2732 - garaichu (06/10/2012) [-]
Dem Shuckles man.
It's outright ridiculous how much damage you can, with the proper setup, do with a Shuckle. If my memory serves me right, it's more than 4 billion damage at the very top.
I believe there was a combo of Power Trick, Defense Curl, Rollout (Last hit), with a Metronome item, against a level 1 Ledyba with the lowest defense possible. Also Helping Hand'd.

Whenever I made the mistake of bringing a newly caught hoothoot to battle with me when I fought Morty in SS.
Morty party wiped my team, save hoothoot. NONE of our moves affected each other, so It was whoever ran out of PP first (which was him, so he stuggled me to death)
