I would like to know pokemon board's most amazing catch in pokemon games. I.E. meaning the most unlikely catch you've done in the games.

Mine was catching Groudon in Ruby with a regular Pokeball with it's health barely in the yellow and it was the first attempt as well.

For people wondering since it was a nest ball with a high level pokemon it has a lesser chance then catching it with a regular pokeball

I think I have everyone beat honestly.

Went to into Mewtwo's cave in blue version. I started the battle with mewtwo but completely forgot to bring ultra balls. I used my master ball on one of the legendary birds like an idiot. So I looked in my inventory to see if I had any balls on me. I had ONE pokeball...I just threw it when he had full health and caught him.

level 70 mewtwo, one try, pokeball, catch = awesome.

Well... Just catching Zapdos with pokeball... I've never found shinies.

I have 3 awesome instances
after more like months maybe years of not catching Rayquaza on Ruby, I decide to level up my Regice to 62 and teach it Ice Beam. so preparing myself with a ton of ultraballs I challenge Rayquaza, I hit the ice beam, gets it down to a trickle, FROZEN! I quick switch out to Manectric to which I also Paralyze it! Threw an ultraball, first attempt, GOT IT! I used my masterball on Groudon don't judge me.
These next 2 are combined, I used to have a shiny Torkoal and shiny Claydol, traded them both when I got them to Black, got a tornadus and Zorua for them (got my copy after the event stuff), worth it, cuz now I have Landorous and a Zorua! Besides they were kind of useless to battle with...

The bullshit is strong with this one.
User avatar #20654 to #20635 - ipurplepika **User deleted account** (07/15/2012) [-]
Now before i call bullshit, the frozen had to run out before you paralyzed it
User avatar #20655 to #20654 - frenchfryy (07/15/2012) [-]
I'm serious, somehow I was able to paralyze it while it was frozen, double whammy I guess.

that's physically impossible in pokemon games
User avatar #20670 to #20666 - frenchfryy (07/15/2012) [-]
well whatever, needless to say I got EXTREMELY lucky that round! Still have that Rayquaza, he's lvl 80, kicks a lot of ass!
User avatar #20656 to #20655 - frenchfryy (07/15/2012) [-]
or maybe I paralyzed it first then used Ice Beam... I don't remember exactly...
User avatar #20639 to #20635 - themanwithnoplan (07/15/2012) [-]
Shiny pokemon are only ceremonial in my opinion, if I caught one I would just store it in the boxes for it to waste it's life in.
#20640 to #20639 - frenchfryy (07/15/2012) [-]
lulz
it wasn't like I was collecting them either, I just happened to find them by chance both in Ruby. So I gave them to players who were collecting, I feel like a GGG.

It has the same catch rate as a Poke Ball. Or a Great Ball, I forgot. But still. LVL 70. LUGIA

3 shakes on a full health lvl 70 Lugia with what essentially was a Poke Ball. More impressive than a Groudon at lvl 45 in yellow health
User avatar #20634 to #20633 - themanwithnoplan (07/15/2012) [-]
It was barely yellow, I was running out of pokemon. AND I ACTUALLY HAVE A GROUDON IN A POKE BALL TO SHOW FOR IT.

I later caught it at full health with a Cherish Ball. So fuck you

Shiny Tauros on a heartgold nuzlocke run

I once ran into a shiny Bug-type in that same Ruby game, although it was in the point that you had no access to pokeballs at all beforehand.

I.E. it was right after you saved the professor.
User avatar #20613 to #20608 - sphyrna (07/15/2012) [-]
Ouch that sucks... When I first had the original gold as a kid I encountered a shiny Rattatta early on, didn't understand what it was and slaughtered it like any other wild rat... I was so pissed when I found out I wasted a 1/8000 chance
#20644 to #20613 - N. Korean citizen (07/15/2012) [-]
lol I did the same thing. I seen a shiny Pidgy right at the start of the game and wondered why it shined like that when it came out. I just killed it like always.
User avatar #20616 to #20613 - themanwithnoplan (07/15/2012) [-]
The only other shiny pokemon I've ever seen I caught, it was a shiny Ponyta.

Basically the fire was blue, thought it was the coolest thing ever.
User avatar #20628 to #20616 - sphyrna (07/15/2012) [-]
Did you evolve it? Shiny Rapidash has silver fire, not sure if better than blue or not but still awesome
User avatar #20632 to #20628 - themanwithnoplan (07/15/2012) [-]
Yep. It was in diamond, and I never really incorporate Fire types into my teams because I don't really like them and they're easily worked around.
User avatar #20636 to #20632 - sphyrna (07/15/2012) [-]
Never used that Tauros... Was afraid of him fainting in the nuzlocke and I don't often use non evolving Pokemon, especially those that are normal type
User avatar #20638 to #20636 - themanwithnoplan (07/15/2012) [-]
I don't like non-evolvers either, and the only time I ever incorporate any normal type is the usual Normal/Flying types.
