The pentagram originally started off as a ward against evil. Although overtime, it was mutated into something much more disgusting. It started to mean evil, satan worship.
User avatar #108 to #79 - grapefruity (11/29/2013) [-]
Also means something different depending on which way it is orientated. Upside down star (Shown in content) is generally satanic, just like a upside down christian cross (In the satanic practice of flipping spiritual wards to make them symbols of satanism itself).

Right side up is used as a symbol for paganism (I believe it is a summoning star, but I am unsure of that). Amongst other things in history.

The crowd is poorly educated on the meaning of this particular symbol. The points of the star are contained within the circle, symbolizing magic controlled by the human mind, in the old wiccan beliefs, or white magic. i.e. good magic. a pentagram in which the points break through the circle symbolize magic unrestrained, i.e. evil magic. So, yeah, there is no historically negative meaning behind this symbol.
User avatar #83 to #70 - azraelthemage (11/24/2013) [-]
Wiccan is a very peculiar religion. While the general idea remains the same, different wiccans believe different things.
#87 to #82 - anonymous (11/24/2013) [-]
Yes, really. This symbol, particularly with the ram's head or the "Sigil of Baphomet" only became associated with Satanism within the last 50 years or so due to Anton LaVey using it when he founded the Church of Satan in 1966. Also notice that the star is not contained in a circle, therefore unrestrained. This symbol is akin to the inverted cross in that it was created as a holy symbol, but gained negative meaning in the public because radical idiots were using it while doing whatever it is they did that gave them worldwide attention.

But the pentagram is supposed to represent Venus, not Satan...
User avatar #73 to #66 - Crusader ONLINE (11/24/2013) [-]
Fag is supposed to refer to cigarettes, not homosexuals.

We live in a drastically different era where the meanings of words and symbols have changed in major ways.
User avatar #88 to #73 - zeroqp (11/24/2013) [-]
Fag is still used in a few countries to refer to cigarettes, though, and not homosexuals. I understand your point, but I am just trying to say that the original meaning, which has mostly gone lost, is what I said. If you look into why that came to be, you'll see that a lot of those things relate to each other in a truly beautiful way.

For instance, the pentagram is the symbol of Venus because the plan Venus (which is named after the Goddess) forms a perfect pentagram in the sky over a four year period. The reason it was for Venus is because of the way the lines cut each other in a pentagram: each line cuts the other in a perfect golden ratio, a number which appears all over nature (and in our bodies themselves). The golden ratio was believed to be the 'creator's fingerprint' when discovered in the ancient times, and thus was chosen to symbolize the divine Goddess. This is a very crude retelling of a lecture I read, but I hope you get what I'm trying to say.

The only reason the pentagram makes you think of Satan today is because of the Christians in their attempts to eradicate all signs of the old heathen beliefs when converting them.

exactly what i was trying to explain to these idiot christfags the other day. i was reading some ancient roman/greek myth texts and on the cover was a pentagram and these ******* self important christfags came up to me and "offered me guidance through my rough time". i asked what they meant (thinking maybe they knew someone who knew someone who knew that i was having unemployment issues) but no, they started in on how the books i read contain spirits and satanic books such as the one i was currently reading are taking hold of my life and turning it into hell. mfw people have no clue because their religion tells them otherwise.

the crowd on one side got the down-pointing star of satan while the other side got the up-pointing star of wicca
#91 to #45 - tyraxio (11/25/2013) [-]
The **** is this?

A pentagram is a pentagram. The Wicca star is a pentagram, and the Satanist star is a pentagram. Why the **** am I getting reds for this? A pentagram is a star with 5 corners, it's in the ******* word if you know even basic Greek.
User avatar #92 to #91 - konradkurze ONLINE (11/25/2013) [-]
yes its still a pentagram, but commonly when worn, if it has one of the points aiming directly down its symbolic to satan and it the point is directly up its symbolic to wicca

hard to say for this pic,. because both sides of the stadium are seeing it a different way
#93 to #92 - tyraxio (11/25/2013) [-]
Okay two things; Firstly, it was only ever called a pentagram.
Secondly, the pentagram in modern western culture is based around heathen religions, like those that Wicca spring from. The very word and concept of "demons" comes from (usually benevolent, though sometimes mischievous) the Greek "daemon" which were sprites of the world.

In laymans terms; a pentagram is a pentagram, and there is made very little difference between heathen religions and actual satanism in Christian tradition. Really, anything that does not support what is in the Bible is considered Satanism to some extent.
User avatar #94 to #93 - konradkurze ONLINE (11/25/2013) [-]
how short bus special are you

Wicca is the faith worshiping mother earth aka, Gaia the mother of Adam,

plus lets not forget how mainstream religions demonised practically ******* everything natural....seriously an apothecary using natural healing like the plants herbs and stuff to heal people would be labelled 'a witch' for healing people without using the poisonous drugs supported by more modern chemists

then again the judeo religions were written with alot of hypocrisy
ive read the bible....apparently its bad to be gay but okay for girls to **** their own father if they cant find any decent man to sire their kids
killing people is bad unless you can justify it....
and we're all supposed to be forgiving unless we feel a strong enough need for revenge 'eye for an eye'
#95 to #94 - tyraxio (11/25/2013) [-]
Hey, I'm not a Christian, I'm just stating facts.

And basically, you just said everything I said in other words, but start out by insulting me even though we agree. The **** dude.
User avatar #96 to #95 - konradkurze ONLINE (11/25/2013) [-]
how is wicca heathen when its the mother earth side of the christian religion...the only way one would consider it evil is if one is a woman-hater trying to deny all other sides of the judeo faith other than "bleat bleat god is good adam is good, woman committed the first sin, woman is evil"

#97 to #96 - tyraxio (11/25/2013) [-]
All non-judeo religions are heathen in Christian tradition. Jews and muslims are even considered infidels although their faith are practically identical.

Also, Wicca and Christianity are in no way related. Maybe inspired by Christianity, given that it is a new religion, but "mother earth side of christian religion"? Give me examples of what relations it has to Christianity, please.

Lastly, the very concept of an Earth Mother is considered heathen.
User avatar #98 to #97 - konradkurze ONLINE (11/25/2013) [-]
god created adam from the earth, meaning the earth is the religious 'mother' of humanity......and this mother earth was named Gaia

not surprising that noone knows much about this because the judeo religion structure has put forth a very sexist message from the start "bleat bleat eve ate the apple first, woman committed the first sin, women BADDDD" its no surprise they demonized Gaia as 'heathen' for not being male

then again if god created heaven and earth then Gaia mother earth is technically his daughter, aka god committed Incest, which according to the bible is perfectly okay

i dont believe any of the judeo religion shuit, its all just fiction to bring about mass mind control of people, hence why the judeo religion went on a rampage over the world of 'convert or die' message....cant handle other religions inspiring free thought
#99 to #98 - tyraxio (11/25/2013) [-]
So what you're saying is that because both Christianity and Wicca deals with themes of the creation of mankind, they are related? Try again, pussio - practically all religions deal with the creation of the world and mankind.

Ahh, so you just did admit that Gaia is a false idol in Christian belief, making her worship heathen?

wat. This paragraph makes no sense.

I agree with you on this bit.
User avatar #100 to #99 - konradkurze ONLINE (11/25/2013) [-]
*hands you some TP* here wipe that *********

why is it...that catholics can worship Mary mother of jesus, and be okay, but when Wiccans worship Gaia mother of adam, its bad?
hmmm could it be the the catholic faith is a monolithic mind control system and wicca isnt....

the judeo faith structure is all a story of **** , the only truth we have is that the mother earth is the one that has actually helped mankind LVIE
i dont see god handing us food, what i do see is the soil we grow crops in, doing that...the EARTH helps mankind, not the magical fairy prince in the sky

User avatar #102 to #101 - konradkurze ONLINE (11/25/2013) [-]
yes just jam your fingers in your ears and ignore other may not be christian but youre following a similar mindset

gaia is more natural and real than anything the judeos wrote
#103 to #102 - tyraxio (11/25/2013) [-]
Ignore other opinions, what the **** are you talking about?

I have never once stated that I have any beef with Wiccan religion. I considered converting once. I have absolutely no problem with Wicca whatsoever, I don't know from where you have that idea.
User avatar #104 to #103 - konradkurze ONLINE (11/25/2013) [-]
all religions deal with the creation of the world and mankind BUT wicca pays particular attention to worshiping mother earth, so its BS the judeo religions labeling it heathen when its just another side to the same story

you yourself said -the very concept of an Earth Mother is considered heathen-
the only way it would be, would mean the judoe faiths admitting theire anti-women ********

and yes i know youre not a christian you keep ******* saying i ask, why do you seem to support their ideal wicca is bad
#105 to #104 - tyraxio (11/25/2013) [-]
The concept of an Earth Mother is as heathen to a Christian as is Vishnu and Zeus although many parallels can be drawn. It is simply the idea of a different entity taking the place of the one they believe in that makes it heathen to the Christian.

I don't. I am just stating that they do think it is bad. I am enforcing nothing, in fact, I am highly critical of this lack of tolerance for people of different belief. I am just stating facts. How come people are always misinterpreting objectivity with liking something?
User avatar #106 to #105 - konradkurze ONLINE (11/25/2013) [-]
well the very concept that the young judeo religions labelling all older religions as evil is just part of their drive to eliminate the competition

look at the rich histories of the Norse, Greek and Egyptian religions, how they had gods with names for mankind to have personal connections to aspects of life

what do we have now...false religion with a god that demands to be called by tital and no name....keeping itself distant from its followers....just as much a tyrant emperor would demand distant worship by his tital and no use of his name

plus how many wars and other ******* has mankind done since turning towards the judeo religions

not exactly inspiring
#71 to #45 - anonymous (11/24/2013) [-]
Incorrect. Whichever direction the star is pointing, the points are still in the circle, rather than breaking through. It's a star of Wicca from either side. Christfags are just dumb.
User avatar #89 to #71 - konradkurze ONLINE (11/25/2013) [-]
not really
much as wicca is a strong part of christian faith since god used mother earth to create adam....the christfags still bleat that wicca is evil for not sucking gods dick like the bible does

I would like to take this time to point out that the upside-down cross does not belong to the Anti-Christ. If anyone actually payed attention in Sunday School, they would know that it's the trademark of Saint Peter. When he was going to be crucified, he requested it to be upside down because he felt he did not deserve to die the same way that Jesus did.

Good point, although inversion of any holy symbol tends to indicate that the inverter is intending some evil purpose. Pentagram, star of David, Cross, etc.

Meh, it is a symbol of whatever you want it to mean. Some would say a symbol of Peter, others a symbol of the Devil...Same with the oh so evil ******** is also a more commonly used sign for peace, positivity and so on. No symbol has a "set in stone" meaning anymore.
