I subconsciously mimic people's accents when I speak to them. I have no idea why I do it, and I don't know how noticeable it is. I'm constantly afraid someone is going to think I was making fun of them.

Sometimes, my mind goes too fast while I'm trying to talk, and I just fall all over my words, and then my mind just goes "What the **** , man! Pick it up!" and then my mouth goes "I'dliketokindlygotothepleasetogotothe.... **** ! The bathroom! The ******* bathroom!"

I can relate to this, but when I'm drunk my English is great. I guess it's got something to do with self confidence

You learn formal English before colloquial English because you can talk to more people that way. It's why people who have English as a second language have very good grammar but sound unnatural.
