When I was about 6 or so I had fallen asleep in the car during a long drive, when I woke up it was the middle of the night, I couldn't see anything as the car was in a garage and pitch black. I had to roam around this garage until I finally found the door and realized I was back at home.
I was still small enough that I could've been carried inside at least.

My brother put me in the toy box for seven hours when I was an infant because he didn't want to have a little brother (he was four when this happened) and as a result I have slight claustrophobia and trust issues

The only reason I know this story is because my entire family think it's hilarious

Or, you know. Woken up, at the very least? That sounds ******* terrifying.

I've never been carried to bed in my life, at least not after I outgrew the infant stage. If I ever dozed off somewhere, I was woken up with an irritable holler and told to get my lousy ass up and to to bed. =/

Did your parents ever carry you to your bed whenever you fell asleep somewhere that wasn't your bed?

This post is about when they stop doing that.

'Better' is a subjective term. I love my parents, and I appreciate what they do for me, but had I never had them, I would've adapted to living without them. I'm sure I could still be a happy, well-adjusted individual regardless of my situation.

One is affected by their experiences and the other people in their life, but ultimately you define you.

Only every now and again. Days that end with a Y and all that.

Earnestly though, don't fret. Treasure the people who do care about you, and keep your chin up. Things are only as bad as you perceive them to be.

I mean, I know in many cases, family will take you in, even if they're not immediate family.
