User avatar #6641 to #6639 - necrogoatsadist (06/18/2012) [-]
depends on my moods, last week it was Classic Rock, this week it's Black Metal. I try to mix it up so I don't get bored if I get stuck with Guitar Theory.
User avatar #6523 to #6446 - ihaveupsyndrome (06/17/2012) [-]
Yes. But I don't have any money to buy one. :(

That sucks man. Pawn shops (if you have any where you live) have really nice guitars for real cheap.
User avatar #6501 to #6446 - vikingfaen (06/17/2012) [-]
Been playing for 3 years now.
User avatar #6622 to #6501 - purpleladybugs (06/18/2012) [-]
awesomeeee! do you have like, any tips?
User avatar #6762 to #6622 - vikingfaen (06/18/2012) [-]
Try and practice alternative picking as much as you can. I don't know what kind of music you like to play. I play metal most of the time. Just try and learn scales and understanding music. Also learn sweeping as fast as possible. If you play metal.
User avatar #6774 to #6762 - purpleladybugs (06/18/2012) [-]
Yeah, I want to play metal, but I only have an acoustic for right now so I gotta wait. Thanks though!
User avatar #6778 to #6774 - vikingfaen (06/18/2012) [-]
Do you have any idea about what kind of electric guitar you want to get?
User avatar #6785 to #6778 - vikingfaen (06/18/2012) [-]
I started off with a cheap peavey fender. Then moved on too a red axe. After going through three guitars I found the right one for me. I have an Ibanez RG-42 BK. It cost about 671 american dollars. I'm very pleased. It has a light and slim shape so it's easy to shred on and stuff. I suggest either Ibanez or ESP for metal music.
User avatar #6780 to #6778 - purpleladybugs (06/18/2012) [-]
Had in mind a Gibson SG, Ibanez Iceman, or a flying V. But they're all pretty pricy.

Just sit down with the guitar and figure things out. Learn how to read tab/notation (optional), and learn some songs . Progress to slightly harder songs, and try to learn some scales, modes, and even some music theory on the side of all of that.
User avatar #6777 to #6642 - purpleladybugs (06/18/2012) [-]
I've been trying to learn harder songs. And I'll look that up, thanks!
User avatar #6497 to #6446 - toonyboogle (06/17/2012) [-]
I want to, I've had a beginner set up in my room since December, telling myself I'd start once my exams finish, which is Tuesday c:
User avatar #6621 to #6497 - purpleladybugs (06/18/2012) [-]
Nice! you'll love it.
User avatar #6477 to #6446 - kusipaa (06/17/2012) [-]
I play guitar. I'm sitting here trying to figure out this recording shit right now...
User avatar #6620 to #6477 - purpleladybugs (06/18/2012) [-]
Best of luck! ^-^

I play guitar, but I'm working on the bass now.
User avatar #6464 to #6460 - purpleladybugs (06/17/2012) [-]
Always wanted to learn the bass!
User avatar #6468 to #6464 - neededllama (06/17/2012) [-]
It's pretty easy, if you've got good rhythm. I taught myself how to play both, even read music. I've got too much time on my hands.
User avatar #6457 to #6446 - sluge (06/17/2012) [-]
I really want to. Not enough money/time to learn.
User avatar #6459 to #6457 - purpleladybugs (06/17/2012) [-]
If you eve get the chance, go for it. It's extremely fun.
User avatar #6466 to #6459 - sluge (06/17/2012) [-]
Acoustic or electric?
User avatar #6624 to #6466 - purpleladybugs (06/18/2012) [-]
Either. Acoustic is much cheaper to start out with though.

Is something ive always wanted to learn, but never had the money or motivation. If I could at least learn a few songs one day that would be sweet.
User avatar #6458 to #6456 - purpleladybugs (06/17/2012) [-]
I've always wanted to, and I'm just learning now. It's a great feeling.

Acoustic or electric?
User avatar #6463 to #6461 - purpleladybugs (06/17/2012) [-]
Starting out with acoustic.
User avatar #6467 to #6463 - anguscat **User deleted account** (06/17/2012) [-]
Ahh, a couple years ago my uncle gave my brother an electric and he never used it so I could probably try it out if it still works. Id honestly rather learn acoustic first tho.
