Thanks man, I barely know anyone who listens to classic rap. Much less West coast rap.
Modern shit sucks, this is real rap.
User avatar #6423 to #6419 - AreyouSerious (06/17/2012) [-]
the rap game doesn't treat their legends well. All the good rappers are dead or sold out. Jay-z is old, Shady's old, dre's a wash out, Lil wayne (was good when he was in the Hot Boys) is a whore, nickki can't rap and sucked dick to get where she is and Drake's audience is little white girls in the suburbs that think they're street.

I guess you run out of things to rap about when you have money.
User avatar #6434 to #6432 - AreyouSerious (06/17/2012) [-]
Like rick ross rapping about drugs meanwhile he's got a million dollar mansion.
User avatar #6437 to #6434 - goldenpotato (06/17/2012) [-]
Yup. Fake.

User avatar #6428 to #6426 - AreyouSerious (06/17/2012) [-]
I don't know what happened to him.
User avatar #6429 to #6428 - goldenpotato (06/17/2012) [-]
I think he got locked up, actually. They released something a while ago, I think.
User avatar #6425 to #6423 - goldenpotato (06/17/2012) [-]
I don't think I've listened to Hot Boys, I'll check them out.
User avatar #6424 to #6423 - goldenpotato (06/17/2012) [-]
A lot of people forget where rap came from.
User avatar #6427 to #6424 - AreyouSerious (06/17/2012) [-]
I think it's a society change, N.W.A just rapped about what they saw, hustling on the street and cops beating the shit out of people. But now a days, it's a lot safer so what do people have to rap about. Clubbing and missing girls.

Also record companies are much stricter with artist now then back then.
User avatar #6430 to #6427 - goldenpotato (06/17/2012) [-]
That's how I think about it. And yeah, a lot of companies don't want people rapping like that, whereas back then if people liked it, the companies signed it. Ever heard of Killer Mike? He's alright for a modern artist.

Immortal Technique is my guy. I met him at Occupy Wallstreet. He's brilliant!
