Mediocre band at best in terms of music and musicianship. Vastly overrated though.

The band is great, even though I think Vinnie is overrated.

He's really not

I dont think hes overrated. He may not be a technical virtuoso but the band transformed metal with their heavy groove and the drums were a huge part of that. His drumwork may not be fast and technical but their is no denying how absolutely fucking crushing it is especially on Far Beyond Driven and really every record on.

Plus, he can be fast and pretty technical when he wants to. Like jordoguy, check out Suicide Note 2 and the Great Southern Trendkill. He just Prefers to play Slower, Heavier, impactful, and groovy as all hell!

Ok, so I went back and listened to some good ol' Pantera on my itunes. I especially liked his work on 13 steps to nowhere. I take everything back!
In my defence, I've been listening to Pantera for a couple of years, but kind of forgot about them recently..... I feel like I shouldn't be allowed to listen to metal any more
