A few reasons. I myself dislike him because he sold out when he got popular. He stopped making heavier, high quality dubstep like he used to, e.g. Scatta and his Cinema remix, and started with lighter, more repetitive stuff that in my opinion, just isn't that good. That's me, and a few other people here. We kind of link in with your typical FJ music hipster: If it is or was popular at any time, it's overrated, untalented, and anybody who likes it knows nothing about music. These are the majority of people who hate on popular artists and bands (not popular like the genre, just well liked) for no discernible reason. But I like to think I'm better than that.
Then there are the people who hate dubstep as a whole, many of whom don't even consider it music at all. Like it or not, Skrillex has become the face of dubstep in America (even though I don't even think he does it anymore, I think he's moved on into other genres), so he magnetizes that hatred.
Then you have the people who actually like Dubstep and listen to other artists in it, maybe go to raves and such and maybe not, but they listen to a lot of it. they look at him and compare him to other people, just like everybody does, and just decide they don't like him or that he's actually talentless and its freak chance he got big. This leads to the people that actually hate him for getting big when other, clearly more talented producers and artists obviously deserve it so much more.
Those, I think, are the key reasons that cover the majority. Cheers.

I'm going to get flamed for this, but the biggest reason is that they're popular to hate.
Their early stuff was punk, and can be defined as such because they produced their own albums, didn't take themselves too seriously, and played energetically with contempt regulation.
Then they signed to a label and suddenly they're the biggest sellouts ever because they're obviously the only band to have ever done that.
Then they decided they'd sing about whatever they damn well pleased and not cater to what was expected of a typical punk band. And now here we are.
And yes, I'm a GD fan.
