Well, I'm Only Sleeping by the Beatles has a good bass line.
If you want a good sounding beat without a challenge, Float On by Modest Mouse is good.
Come Together is a classic, not that much of a challenge though.
In the end it really depends on what music you like and what type you feel like playing/like to play.

lol. my dad's a musician so he knows his shit. I mostly use his old '79 Precision bass, as pictured above [i fucking love this thing], but we also have in our aresnal a 83 jackson custom series concert bass, a spector and shitty squier fretless jazz bass. I'd like to get a music man stingray though
well basically "thumping" as i like to refer to it is basically just rythm, which is fine for metal, but real bass involves alot of walking lines, and support to the song, or slap, if you wanna hear a great bass player listen to any song by primus, les claypool is a god
