anyone else here hyped up about Brand New releasing new stuff?
User avatar #148697 - tmgrskat (4 hours ago) [-]
Does anyone else like slowing down songs and paying attention to the rhythym? Please tell me I'm not the only one.
User avatar #148698 to #148697 - thebestpieever (3 hours ago) [-]
I don't get what you mean by "paying attention to the rhythm".
User avatar #148699 to #148698 - tmgrskat (3 hours ago) [-]
I mean paying attention to each individual organ and its tune, how they all play together in harmony etc
User avatar #148700 to #148699 - thebestpieever (2 hours ago) [-]
I assume most people can do that without slowing down songs. I'd prefer it, actually, slowing down a song distorts it, doesn't sound as good.
User avatar #148703 to #148700 - tmgrskat (2 hours ago) [-]
Not as distorted if you don't preserve the pitch on it.
User avatar #148704 to #148703 - thebestpieever (2 hours ago) [-]
I wasn't talking about pitch, I was talking about general sound fidelity. And yes, it does distort fairly quickly. Particularly vocals become a mess fairly soon into the downspeeding process.

Thinking of taking up the violin a hobby, other than gaming. Anyone have suggestions or tips for a person who's never played one?
User avatar #148692 to #148688 - wertgf (5 hours ago) [-]
Learn proper technique from the start,
e.g. how to hold a bow, Fingering positions (once you get good you'll thank me) , Keeping a straight bow (There are other techniques)
Basic things such as how to tune effectively.

You're gonna want to learn sheet music if you want to play in local orchestras.
You'll probably get a starter book from charity shops for like a dollar.
User avatar #148691 to #148688 - thebestpieever (7 hours ago) [-]
Say goodbye to your wrist. Also, unless you're planning to get a teacher, get a tuner. You're not going to be in tune for the first year and a half or so, so you need something to always keep you in line. Most importantly: relax. On stringed or keyed instruments you can get away with a degree of tension as long as it doesn't affect your fingering. On a bowed instrument you're either loosey goosey or you've made everyone want to chop their ears off.

User avatar #148678 to #148677 - drldrl ONLINE (18 hours ago) [-]
Metallica.
Like at the end of To Live Is To Die, in nearly drowns out the guitar. But it is a nice bassline, and I like hearing it over not.
User avatar #148675 to #148672 - thebestpieever (18 hours ago) [-]
I was reading an interview with this audio engineer the other day, who tried to match the bass distortion with the guitar to be almost identical and then make the bassline almost the same as the guitar. His philosophy behind it being that the bass and the guitar would be practically indistinguishable from one another but they would both sound like a massive wall of sound.

There was no sample of his work on the article though.
User avatar #148657 - mimidevlin (04/24/2015) [-]
Okay guys, I'm selling my epiphone viola bass but I have no idea of where to start. Should I just take it to guitar center and accept whatever they offer? I really don't want to part with it but I need the money for school.

Alright guys, I need your help. Just this one time, please, this is something maybe a lot of you could actually help me out with.

Send me all the popular pop punk songs that were popular in the 90s and early to mid 2000s, just give me all the ones you know. Doesn't matter if they're shit, just do it, just send me them all.

Why?

I've got this one chorus stuck in my head, and I mean stuck. I have no clue what the words even are, and it's just a few seconds. But I mean, it's been bugging me for probably a few years now, and I need it now. The only thing I can remember is like him saying something like "toooooooniiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight" or something like that I don't know and I'm 95% sure it was some pop punk song that got decently popular somewhere in the 2000s

so please help me end this, because it's gonna kill me
User avatar #148659 to #148658 - shibe (23 hours ago) [-]

I dig it. Nice guitar line. I like the idea with the vocals but I think they could use a bit of improvement. Like, they like a bit of body to make that "shouting at the top of my lungs" feeling that they've feel a bit more alive. More punchy. Or maybe eliminate the raspy and make it a bit more mellow. Personally I think the bit at 0:42 has the best vocals of the song with that really smooth sound. But it was nice, pretty nice.
