unfortunately, he didn't have time to clip his saw to himself right (which is why he looked down) and caused him to not grab the stump when the branch fell.

Actually, that's exactly what is supposed to happen - and he probably does it 15 times a day. If the branch fell, it would damage the property. Even the damage done to the lawn would be unacceptable. The tree has to be lowered by a rope gently, but first it must fall long enough to not hit him on the rebound. His harness is almost indestructible, as is the remaining stump - he will be ripped to shreds before it breaks. He just needs to withstand the g force along the way.
