On a related note I consider the inability to recognize sarcasm to be a huge indicator of stupidity.

Mass is the measurement of the amount of matter in something. Weight is a measurement of gravity's effect on mass. Your weight will change if you go to the moon, but your mass stays the same.

It's more useful for the temperatures which we actually experience a lot on Earth. 0 is really cold and 100 is really hot, but both commonly happen at lots of places on the globe. 100 °C is too hot to be weather, and 0 °C isn't really that cold, so using Celsius makes less sense when reporting the weather. For science Celsius isn't very useful either, scientists generally use Kelvin.

It's actually pretty easy to use Celsius as a weather measurement, and if you ever took a chemistry class you'd know how useful Celsius is.

Celsius is no more fundamentally useful than Fahrenheit for chemistry. It is easier to use only because the formulas we already use are adjusted to Kelvin, and since the scale for Kelvin and Celsius are the same, it is easy to switch between the two. Every formula and constant, however, could be adjusted to fit any scale you could come up with. Saying it's more useful in chem is misleading because it is ONLY due to convention, not an actual difference in fundamental utility.

Try calculating the heat it takes to turn x amount of ice into x amount of water vapor. Celsius is easier because water freezes at 0 and boils at 100, which are better numbers to use. Same thing with using metric for conversions, because everything is in base 10

Reply 0 123456789123345869

haha no it doesn't make a difference, it's only easier because of convention, with the constants we use having been calculated with metric units. The calculations would be exactly the same with slightly different constants if imperial units were used. With everything outside of temperature, yes it is simpler to use base 10 conversions, but I'm only defending Fahrenheit, not the entire Imperial system. But it doesn't make that much of a difference anyway, I just like F for temps!

Reply 0 123456789123345869

Yes, the constants ARE the difference. It's the same formula but a hell of a lot easier with C than F due to the constants. We did both on the same equation because of a kid asking, and F is just a pain.

I'd rather have the creator not skip measurements in an attempt to make it appear like a perfect 1000 for every measurements, especially when Centimeters and Meters are our most used measurements, and Centimeters is only one more measurement to add to the list. as I said, it makes it look one sided.

But it is not one sided anyhow,
1000mm/100cm/10dm -> 1m is still easier to remember than 12inch -> foot, 3 foot -> yard. and so on.
All you have to do in the metric system to get the next measurements is to divide or multiply by 10, that does not work for said other measurements.
and further the creator is skipping measurements because it would take up way more space than this little chart, it would still not be one sided though because he would just have to write out that by dividing or multiplying with 10 gives said next measurement ex( 10x1cm=1dm).

Now please tell me why you thought this was one sided, im not looking to argue about what's best. I'm just curious about how you thought.

Because they ignored measurements to make it appear to be perfect 1000's, and one more measurement would not take up "way more space and this little chart". That is why it is shown to be one sided, give someone enough time and they could do the same with imperial measurements.

I agree that the metric system is better but it's obvious you either didn't read my initial post correctly or just don't understand it.

Weight is a measurement of the force of gravity on something, so it it measured in Newtons

what i mean is kilogram is used both for the measrement of the mass and the current weight of the object, because if we have to measure weight as a force, then we would technically need to use only Newton, and the universe would explode from long numbers
