It's kind of inevitable, considering how different their characters are. DC has flawed, interesting villains and boring "I'm perfect in every way" heroes. Marvel has flawed, interesting heroes and kind of meh villains. It's kind of hard to **** with the story when your heroes are this grounded and stable. Imagine they made a comic where Iron Man snaps and starts murdering people. That'd be completely in character, since Tony's got issues out the ass and a drinking problem. Now imagine Batman snapped and started killing people. You can't, can you? That's why Marvel has so much leeway with their characters and comics - the characters allow it.

Wrong. I would totally expect Batman to snap and start killing people. He's a ******* psychopath, he leads children around in the most dangerous situations imaginable.

Batman's whole character is based around him being mentally disturbed, that's why the Joker is such a good villain for him. They're two sides of the same coin.

i dont think that would work
the reason that dc villains are so good is more often then not hey are reflections of the hero who fights them
take for example batman villainse
the joker is a reflection of his creation
the riddler is a reflection of his intelegence and deductive skills
the scarecrow is a reflection of his methods
they are all in some way the batman if he went a different path

even supermans villains are a reflection of him
zod is superman if he hadnt been raised by humans

so pitting them against marvel heros just wouldnt work because they would be so out of place

Then you match them up correctly.

Loki vs. Zod (same thing as Superman - Loki could have been good if he was raised correctly.)
Doc Ock vs. Joker (Spidey if he used his science for evil or snapped vs. Batman if he used his for evil.)
Hydra vs. The Hive Five (both are sprawling organizations with and are essentially lawful evil counterparts of their heroes.)
Lex Luthor vs. AIM (Both are good on the outside, primarily using PR instead of weapons since their heroes have to stay inside the law.)

>"Dc movies are dark, cynical, gritty, and mature"

Well yeah, instead of just making a feature film about Scarlett Johannson's ass, they focused on artistic elements and plot themes and ****.

>female thor is ******* stupid and you know it.

She's just another "Superman with tits". That's when the writers don't even try to create a new, interesting character who is female and has her own ******* identity (like Wonder Woman), but instead simply slap on a pair of knockers so that teenage boys can find themselves confusedly jerking off to female superman. Batgirl is the same.

>"won't allow lesbians to get married in the comics"

nobody gives a **** about the Batgirl comics anyway (for reasons stated above). also Green Lantern's been gayer than Liberace since 2012.

>Can't mention any superhero names in titles"

Are you ******* kidding me? So you've never seen "Batman Begins", "Superman Returns", "Green Lantern", "Catwoman", or "The Incredible Hulk"? **** your father and die.

>"Wonder Woman can't find an audience"

No, DC comics can't find demand. There's a freaking huge audience for a Deadpool movie but since nobody's yelling about it it probably won't happen. But I guess Marvel's made all kinds of movies their female superhero.. um.. the... invisible girl? uhh.. hmm...she-hulk? yep. you know what let's go with She-Hulk because that isn't ridiculous.

DC comics had black superheroes WAY before Marvel did.

I'm not an authority on comics nor superheroes, but honestly, DC's only recent stake is the Christopher Nolan Batman. The man of steel kinda sucked, and the superman movie before that only managed to spawn a good rock song and that's about it.

> First DC MOVIES aren't. Only Last batch of Batman ones are. And with Batman it worked in that closed self contained world. Dark and gritty Superman is stupid.
And if you are trying to tell me Man of Steel was a movie where they focused on artistic you must have fallen on your head.

> Female Thor is a temporary gimmick. Neither good nor bad. Just like DC keeps doing like when they killed Superman and had 3 supermen run around for a year.

> Batwoman, not Batgirl. And not THE Green Lantern but completely reworked third tier character outside the main continuity. And only after backslash when Marvel had the gay wedding.

> Incredible Hulk is Marvel. That's why he is in the Avengers.

> Actually there is a huge demand. Wonder Woman animated movie outsold ever other DC movie without Batman. If you look at the hype, Wonder Woman is drawing nearly three times the interest the Superman did, and she is not even a major character in a new movie. WB simply thinks "Comics are for boys, we can't do things with gurrls" and its a stupid thinking.

> No, they really didn't. DC didn't have a single major black superhero long after Black Panter joined the Avengers in 1966 and got his own title in 1968. DC didn't have a black superhero hold a solo title for nearly ten years later then that.

>I'm not saying they are entirely, just pointing out how it isn't a bad thing

>Agreed. quite similar to "kid flash"

>She's definitely Batgirl. "Batwoman" must be alternate universe because "Batgirl" actually becomes "Oracle" when she gets older (due to Joker shooting her and paralyzing her)

> I know, I meant to put that in another part i eventually deleted.

> I aint heard **** bout no damn wonder woman movie. I'd like it, but most of the feminists are too busy isolating themselves from everyone else to talk about wonder woman.

>Wikipedia has evidence of DC comics having "colored" superheroes since 1945, Marvel came about later. Maybe they weren't major characters, but then again, what kind of major character in marvel was there (who wasn't important only due to his blackness like BP)?

> There is a difference between someone doing it right, for artistic reasons (The Dark Knight) or making it dark and gritty just to be darker and edgier for no reason. (Man of Steel which would have worked better without grit). Just like there is the difference between the comics like Dark Knight Returns and The Watchmen and Spawn. One is art, other is "lets make it dark and gritty and sell to dumb teenagers"

> Exactly.

> No. Batgirl, all of the Batgirls are straight. Batwoman Katherine Kane is a lesbian and in a relationship with Detective Maggie Sawyer.
dc.wikia.com/wiki/Katherine_Kane_%28New_Earth%29

> There is a DC animated movie, which is awesome and sold extremely well. And Gal Gadot signed for three more movies after this one, two solo.

> No, they had colored character in 1945. Not superhero. And not plural. He was a soldier in a WW2 comic, and lasted all of the one issue before being killed.

Huh... plenty of people gave a **** about the batwoman comic. The character was very interesting no, it wasn't a batman with tits, the storyline about the mafia was a nice variation from the normal "kick the clown in the face" setting, and the marriage was the logical conclusion to the whole Batwoman/Montoya romance, that was a very human depiction. Taking it off really affected the storyline.

And the gay green lantern was the greatest **** DC did in late years since the whole new 52 debacle. They managed to make a character that was insulting to characters fans, to gays and to the character history itself. He didn't turn gay, he turned to an emo faggot.

Agreed, however up until recently I've been a major Marvel fan.

I don't really see anything wrong with taking a darker turn on story telling. The Dark Knight series was all about making it grounded and dark, and it was a huge hit.

No, it won't work with everything, and maybe that's the point being made here, but the idea that being edgy is dumb just because the internet castrated the word is just as bad.

I know the word edgy wasn't actually used in the image above, but I think we can assume it means the same thing, and its really only due to people taking the piss on things that try to take a grim approach on things that we condemn it.

The problem is that DC is really going HAM with it, like in the 90's. You have great grittiness, like Watchmen or TDK, in wich making the story darker brings more interesting and adult themes, and you have boring gritiness, that makes the story look like it was written by an edgy 13 year old. DC is taking a great turn towards the latter.

Man I really love Marvel but they're publicity whores. Obsessed with it really. Leak the dopest **** in Newspapers like two months before it comes out in the comics and then complain why the sales suck balls. DC is more of a dick to their employees than they are to us readers.
