idk if this is actaully true, just quoting from something I read earlier.

"Sucking all of the air out of someone's lungs would produce a vacuum. The negative pressure gradient and ensuing vacuum would have burst the blood vessels in her lungs, thus drowning her."

i doubt any kids watching this would realize it, but if this is actually true then that is pretty ******* brutal for an airbender.

They could allude to it THAT MUCH MORE but as long as you get what happened then i guess its ok, ITs online only now so they could bump the rating up a little TVpg v

>He could have used air to fling her into the ceiling and let her drop leaving blood and gore splatted everywhere
>He could have compressed the air and turned it into a blade or a bomb (gasses tend to ignite and explode when compressed)
>He could have accelerated his fist through her chest, they can bend enough air to send a 180ish pound man several feet in the air...they have more than enough power to accelerate a punch or a rock or a knife...**** with air bending a weapon becomes 10x deadlier

Even without air bending a powerful martial artist like him can do a lot of very graphic stuff to an old woman. Taking the air out of her lungs is probably the least graphic.

Y'all are retarded. Oxygen is an oxidizer, not a fuel. Oxygen Oxidizes fuels allowing them to combust. Diesel engines work by high compression, increasing the temperature of the fuel (pv=nrt), until it auto ignites. Thats why we also have various octane grades of gasoline, they resist combustion more in high compression engines.

TL;DR Air is not flammable, but it makes fuels be flammable

Honestly though the Equalists did have a good point, the council at the time was made of entirely benders and then they all voted to hardcore repress the nonbenders even though arguably most of the crime was done by the benders.

The one scene that always made me think was during the protests when one of the women tells Korra "You're our Avatar too". I really wish they did more with that in season 1 rather than "lol Amon is a bender so the equalists go away now"

What I'm wondering is why he didn't just summon tornadoes and hurricanes. One tornado of considerable size and speed and no one could escape it really. Then while they are in the tornado, just turn the tornado into a large pressurized ball of air with them inside. They should end up tearing apart at enough speed.

Well it doesn't help that Nick doesn't give a rat's ass about the LoK series.
They did **** all to promote this season and and took it off their channels because it wasn't bringing in enough ad revenue, because no one ******* knew it was back on except for people that found out about it on the internet.
So they put it online without any promotion there either, potentially leaving the series at an end with season 3 it feels like. They say they will do a 4th, but with the series not on TV anymore they probably aren't getting as much money, so they will have to cut their budgets on animations/writing/voice acting/etc.
It's all ****** and Nick is to blame as they try to pile in another **** season of Spongebob.

Nick screwed the series over but given the last few episodes... that's not why they took it off the air. I don't think it's a coincidence that the series was taken off the air shortly before:

The graphic forced-asphyxiation of a monarch, the mind-blowing death of combustion-lady, the graphic electrocution of woman-who-I-swear-is-voiced-by-azula, and then the vicious lava-suicide of lava-guy.

I mean... **** got pretty graphic at the end there and I don't think Doug's quite right about exactly why Korra was taken off the air, though I can't blame him. This stuff is pretty un-broadcastable even if it's relatively tame for what it is depicting.

Also... props to the show. Bald little girl. Didn't think they'd have the balls. They had the balls. She's probably gonna grow some hair back sooner or later but I'm glad they had the stones to go there and take away the one thing that the media has, even in it's more mature productions, almost never taken away from a woman.

So yeah... I don't think Nick took it off the air to screw the show, but to save themselves a LOT of trauma and maybe to promote streaming on their website. What is more, given what the series contained at the end there are you surprised they didn't want to promote it? They knew the fans would watch it but they didn't want to get a load of first-timers into the series through THAT series and especially those last few episodes... because **** me...

All-in-all... I completely understand where Nick was coming from regarding the handling of this last season. Plus, the first season of Korra contained a lot of graphic stuff too so I'm not shocked that Nick wanted to give it a test-run and not put their eggs in one basket. The second season I don't blame Nick for entirely though because honestly... there were some fundamental failures in the writing of that season that even when rushed a good author knows to avoid like the plague.

Fair guess just from this gif. But what actually happened is Aang was cornered by Ozai and went into the avatar state. Then made a fire ring + air sphere because bending fire and air can be done almost anywhere and then pulled massive boulders from the ground and compressed them into those tiny rocks you see floating around him. And then just pulled some water from the lake/sea/ocean.
If you watch the whole episode, you'd see he uses maybe one or two mixed element techniques.
Also, it may show air and fire in the background of the gif, but that's just the air sphere and fire ring rotating around him. I don't think it was used for the technique.
Lastly, those don't look like fire or air bending movements.

I think to do that you have to be a very powerful bender, since you have to crush the rock down to a small size, then fire shards of compressed rock that explode on impact.

Aang could only bend earth like that with the strength and skill of every previous avatar combined, and he was established to be a very powerful bender in the first place, so I doubt most earthbenders would be capable.

Airbending: Air pressure can squash someone under enough atmospheres. They could also suto fire bend by using air friction to cause spontaneous combustion.

Waterbending: Almost everything in the human body is under this category thought let's get a but more creative. Using blood bending on yourself you could theoretically do superhuman feats of power and even flight

Firebending: Fire bending is under a broader power of temperature manipulation. To create fire they cause spontaneous combustion in the air around them though at temperatures like that lot of stuff around them would catch fire, including them to put it out all they would need to do would be stop bending, but they have shown to also have influence on existing fires meaning that they can also cool the environment. Firebenders can make things freeze.

Earthbending: By putting a rock under enough pressure you can super hear it from friction. Enjoy bending liquid rock. They also have demonstrated the ability to bend coal meaning they can turn it to diamond using the same idea as creating liquid rock. However they also have shown to be able to bend crystals dragging in god only knows how many different elements. Uranium bending. Oh, and metal bending also basically makes you Magneto so majority of his tricks as well.

Uranium's a metal so they could at least bend it. Conventional fission would would be neigh on impossible though as you need a high energy particle to start the reaction. Airbenders might be able to fuse helium though.

I'm DMing in an RPG session and the setting is all about the elements, everybody's an elemental mage. To list few of the more creative ideas for characters my players (or me) had:

1. Using water element to specialize your tissues in absorbing it and basically becoming nearly unkillable plant person, that absorbs water all the time, from everything (blood included) to heal
2. A berserker using air element to be able to go into murderous rampages while muting every sound in certain radius
3. An earth mage that puts so much pressure on both side of a rock, the enemies get faceful of pointy rock pebbles (think: shotgun shot)
4. An ice mage that specialized in transferring her consciousness with low temperature and didn't realize her body died for a week
5. A fire mage who could fuse everyday objects with his spells and detonate them at will, on top of having riddiculous destructive power and 0 resistance to fire

What if an airbender was strong enough to push all the air around a persons head away, creating a small vacuum, letting go, and having the vacuum collapse with great force, knocking out the person, or killing them?

Creating a void around a person's head would be enough to kill them, no need to lay the smackdown of re-compression.
There's a reason you can't just hold your breath and survive in space, the answer is not the cold although that's a definite factor.
(The answer is that the lack of pressure causes your insides to boil away, despite the cold)

Earthbending is even more overpowered if you consider the fact that if they're bending non-metallic elements, particularly crystals, they should be able to manipulate carbon if they are skilled enough. Every living organism would be at the mercy of an Earthbender of that caliber.

Although firebenders can manipulate existing fires, they've never really been shown to put them out, I don't think they can make things freeze. They've never cooled anything, just heated randomly.
You need to go deeper. Air bending is either A: Controlling any of the atom/molecules present in the atmosphere, if it happens to be Nitrogen which makes up most of the atmosphere, virtually all living things will be at their mercy. The same could be said about Oxygen and Hydrogen; or B: Air bending is simply applying pressure to ANYTHING in any form. In this case you're basically a bender of everything, it's just a matter of how powerful you are in order to do certain things.
Turning coal to diamond would require an insane amount of power, the likes of which Aang didn't have as seen in the final battle vs Ozai. He compressed rock A LOT but did not achieve diamond status. I guess that could be because the rock didn't have a lot of carbon in it but it still seems quite unlikely to me that any earthbender would be able to create diamond.
Using Blood Bending on yourself should be nigh impossible since you would constantly have to be doing the movements needed to bend in the first place, although most bending just requires arm movement.

if I told you that there is a person buried some where 5-30 ft underground in a 100 foot radius of you, how long would it take to find them? Now what if they were constantly changing location (they could still move while underground). yes, in fact they may as well be invisible, even better then invisible because you can still spam attack an invisible person. if you need air pop up an air hole for a second, dude I'm telling you this plan is bullet proof. water cant move through stone. at the VERY LEAST it would give them a GIGANTIC advantage in the fight.

Four problems:

Stone conducts heat better then soil.

The air pops give you away, and A air bender can bend in some bad air **** (smoke) into that air hole.
