theyre made of hot plasma kept together with electro magnets. not lasers.

They aren't made of light. They are made of plasma
User avatar #8 to #3 - Jolt (09/26/2010) [-]
yes, plasma that holds it's stick form.
find me something that can hold plasma, not melt, and collide with another plasma rod.

From the Star Wars wiki:
The weapon consisted of a blade of pure plasma energy emitted from the hilt and suspended in a force containment field. The field contained the immense heat of the plasma, protecting the wielder, and allowed the blade to keep its shape.

'High levels of energy generated by a high-output Diatium power cell was unleashed through a series of focusing lenses and energizers that converted the energy into PLASMA. The PLASMA was projected through a set of focusing crystals... Once focused by the crystals, the PLASMA was sent through a series of field energizers and modulation circuitry within the emitter matrix that further focused it, making it into a coherent beam of energy that was projected from the emitter. The blade typically extended about a meter before being arced... back to a negatively charged fissure ring in the emitter, where it was channeled back to the power cell by a superconductor'

Gosh. Really? It's quite obvious that they are magnetically contained beams of superheated plasma. Duh! I bet you haven't even programmed your own computer code.

It's not really a laser, it's a super heated beam of plasma that is kept in place by a magnetic field generator in the hilt of the light saber.

Since I helped you out, I want something in return.............what does outside look like?

So guys.

The battery sends a surge of power forward that powers a plasma laser. The laser shoots through three different crystals that modify it for color and effect, and then proceeds through the lense. It shoots forward and gets bounced back by the electromagnetic field, which sends it straight back into the battery. (That's why lightsabers rarely run out of energy; they basically feed themselves power).

When it hits things, it interrupts the EM field juuuust long enough to **** the victim up with plasma. As soon as it burns through, the EM field closes.
#96 to #87 - johnjarboe (09/26/2010) [-]
EXCEPT for the fact that EM Fields doesn't reflect light.

PLASMA.

They only call it a lightsaber because it produces light due to its electromagnetic field

hey, i posted practically the same comment below (except mine is less specific, and without a pic)

it's plasma held in shape by a magnetic field, burning through things
User avatar #161 to #158 - Charden (09/26/2010) [-]
Everyone posted a less specific comment below.

Specificity and a pic wins the day,
