OMG The BBC put George Bush in charge of America... It's obviously their fault I think all americans are dumb asses. Nothing to do with the fact they kept him in for a 2nd term ;)
#102 to #101 - anonymous (11/07/2009)
its not our fault stupid hicks in the south are allowed to vote
#103 to #102 - anonymous (12/22/2009)
Its not our fault you let mexicans get across the border and vote
#100 - anonymous (10/27/2009)
He was best with Stephen Fry in Jeeves & Wooster.
#99 - anonymous (10/26/2009)
Is it really unreasonable for American's to think he's American? He sounds more like an American than we do when he's playing House, and most of us haven't seen much British media outside of Monty Python. I was shocked when I found, to be honest.

We just don't get much British media here, we make too much shitty television of our own to sift through.
#98 - anonymous (10/15/2009)
LOL
#92 - anonymous (10/01/2009)
But Hugh Laurie rules!
He was great in Black Adder

fucking nigger!
#83 - anonymous (09/29/2009)
His best role ever was on The Young Ones as Lord Snotbottom!!!!!!!
#82 - anonymous (09/29/2009)
I saw him a lot in British comedy shows as a kid like a bit of Fry & Laurie, or black adder as a prissy prince wearing white makeup and just being stupid. Now he is American smart ass. Very Different. I think this is an inner joke for the Britts. Americans don't know he is an actual British Actor, So I bet the Britts get a big laugh when he is telling the Americans how stupid they are.

The Britts.... I guess we will never understand the real punchline. :)
#97 to #82 - anonymous (10/15/2009)
I don't think anyone doesn't know he's British...
#96 to #82 - anonymous (10/04/2009)
I grew up watching the Young Ones and Black Adder, but it is not, unfortunately, untrue to say most younger Americans don't realize Hugh Laurie is British. I've encountered multiple individuals who are entirely unaware of it. While I agree it is unfair to make a blanket statement (since I am an American and I'm aware), it's also somewhat, sadly, true.
#94 to #82 - anonymous (10/01/2009)
no you're idiot cause that IS what he is saying . He said "Americans don't know he is an
actual British Actor" we do know he is actually British. That would be like me saying that Americans had an inside joke when any Brits watched Bridget Jones Diary cause the Brits didn't know she was an "actual American actor"
#93 to #82 - anonymous (10/01/2009)
I'm American and I've seen Jeeves & Wooster, A Bit of Fry and Laurie and Blackadder. In fact, I made it a point to watch the pilot of House only because Hugh Laurie was in it. So there.

I also recognized him from Ang Lee's Sense & Sensibility. Small part, but he rocked it.
#90 to #82 - anonymous (10/01/2009)
you're an idiot. He's not saying that. He's just remarking on American's inability to recognize Hugh Laurie as anything other than House. They never saw Jeeves and Wooster or any of the classics, so they have no real clue as to just HOW popular he is among the british.

He's not remarking on the joke implied in the poster
#88 to #82 - anonymous (09/30/2009)
You're an idiot. "The Americans don't know he is an Actual British Actor" yeah I'm pretty sure we know. That's common knowledge unless you don't own a tv. In the future I would refrain from making blanket statements about American awareness. Although I'm sure the BBC would be proud they were able to influence an entire British generation using George Bush as the frontman.

Yes, Hugh Laurie was a famous British Comedian long before anyone in America knew about him. So were the Python's, although not as dramatically. And so was Rowan Atkinson. They were all very funny. But it doesn't make you a better, or superior person to know this, and people really should just be happy he's made it across the pond, and now is recognized by even more people for the tremendous actor, both comedic and dramatic he is, rather than make them try to alienate others by saying they knew him beforehand. Also, Friends is a sitcom, and entirely unique brand of comedy and thus a separate and incomparable form to the sketch comedy of a bit of fry and laurie. Both are funny in different ways, and pointless to compare.

You all got it wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!

#60 - anonymous (09/20/2009)
The sad thing is, that Hugh Laurie was in an absolutely brilliant show with Stephen Fry called "A Bit Of Fry And Laurie" in the 80s, and yet most people here have probably never heard of it...
#85 to #60 - anonymous (09/30/2009)
your british?? im shocked to find someone from the uk would use the term british to describe their home. an englishman would say england and a scot would say scotland. im wondering if your a yank in disguise?????

#58 - anonymous (09/20/2009)
A nigger :O
#80 to #58 - anonymous (09/28/2009)
perhaps they should have assigned it to you, since you obviously are in need of a grammar lesson. It would be 'their people' not there, considering the spelling you used means a place to go or somewhere to set an object etc.

Couldn't let the irony go unnoticed.
#75 to #58 - anonymous (09/23/2009)
i Think black people assigned the meaning "a stupid person" to nigger, there the ones that say it the most. to there own people.
#73 to #58 - anonymous (09/22/2009)
Or it comes from negro, which means black. You know. Either way.
#72 to #58 - anonymous (09/22/2009)
Most people don't even realize that nigger actually means 'a stupid person' hence why the whites called black people that when they were slaves...
#61 to #58 - anonymous (09/21/2009)
