I still say we should worship Blade, for his kick assery and his godly muscles. He fights evil...

just because god allows evil doesnt mean he wills evil and doesnt mean he cant do it. which explains exactly why its from 33 AD. god just lets man do what they want and outside of evil created by man, its just a way to maintain the natural balance.
User avatar #13 to #7 - kazumakyu (09/14/2009) [-]
Ah, but what sense does that make? You are saying that he is not necessarily unwilling or unable to stop evil, but allows man to deal with evil on their own. This would imply that he simply does not give a **** , yes? This, of course, raises the question of WHY do you worship a being who does not particularly care either way if you live or die? Why is he worthy of praise? "Oh, but he created us!" So what if he did? If I go out and sire a child, but do not take care of it following its birth, am I truly worth of the title "father"? To be frank, if God really did create us and yet still allows us to live in misery and pain, I really don't think he deserves anything more than a passing glance and maybe a rude hand-gesture every now and again.

God gave us a very special gift...... it is called free will........ any evil in this world is the result of this gift he gave us...... atheists will have a great time burning in hell

If god gave us a choice, why would he punish Atheists for using that gift to it's full extent by going out on our own outside of any orthodox religion and by living by what we choose to be moral and not what others choose for us? Just playing devil's advocate here.

I don't understand why people fight over it. Instead of living a life, they argue over who's religion is right, and in the end, it doesn't even matter. I'm an atheist, and I respect what others believe in, but when Christians shove it down my throat that I HAVE to believe in god to be happy, then there is a problem. I was plenty happy before you told me my life was a sin and meaningless. I don't need a God to make it day by day. I live my life by morality and I have people who love me, and that's all I need. And when I die, then come what may, but until then, God can stay out of my life.

I do agree with this picture on my own behalf because of who I am, but I also feel that any individual has the right to humbly believe in whatever they should so wish. If what keeps you going is the belief in God, and so be it, if what keeps you going is a scientific belief in the Universe itself, that's fine too. It's all just the cycles of being human, it's in our nature to question where we came from and where we belong and eventually, we should all learn to accept such things.
#15 - anonymous (09/14/2009) [-]
I agree with this, but one thing everyone can agree on is that this is not the place for things like this

I'm sorry if this seems like an attack on religion, because it's not. I never meant to insult any religion, i just thought that this comment was mildly amusing. Geez, I'm sorry if none of you can see the thought behind a comment like this and are all stuck on "He's attacking Christianity!" Seriously, I'm thinking, "Woah, this is an interesting thought from FREAKING 33 AD!?!? Sick!" And once again, I'm sorry if I seemed to be attacking Christianity or any of the other religions. Really, I just thought it was interesting but.... yeah... Whatever, I'm glad some of you can see deeper into this than as an attack on religion...

First of all, this is supposed to be comedy. There are people here who are taking what Epicurus as if t has merit. It does not. Continue reading if you are not stupid.

1: God is willing to prevent evil. In fact, it will happen at the End Times. Its in Revelations. So first statement makes the assumption that God is supposed to be our wingman responding to our every need. Wrong.

2: "Is he able but not willing? Then he is malevolent."
Uh, yeah he is willing. Revelations. He's giving humans time to repent. Why are crucial details about the Lord clearly just being ignored? That's dumb.

3: "Is he able and willing? Then where does Evil come from?" It comes from the HUMANS which have fallen from the good glory of God.

so according to most religions god is all knowing and all powerful (omnipotent & omniscient). Then, shouldn't he know what everyone will do before it even happens?
if so then:
why make them in the first place?
why wait for peoples decisions if he knows them prior to them making them?
why would he create someone who he already knows will make bad choices and go to "hell"? (is he evil?, does he like seeing people suffer?)

if god is omnipotent and omniscient then he should have no reason to create anything else, since he is perfect and has no need for anything else.

the whole existence of an all knowing all powerful god makes no sense, and if he isnt all knowing and all powerful then it isn't a god....

who really cares what created the universe? cant we just live in it without knowing how it got there? why do people think they are right when they werent even there to prove **** ?
for me to believe something, id have to physically see it....
if you are overconfident in the christian shows how must you believe what other people tell you.

Life is arbitrary, so why should we enjoy it?

Well, why not?
#14 - anonymous (09/14/2009) [-]
Most people ask why there is evil if God exists. It says in the bible that God creates happiness and joy, and the devil creates evil and unhappiness, since the devil and God are almost equal in power...then..yeah. BTW I believe in God, and there has always been a balance between good and evil, without it, the world would really be nothing, light and dark, yin and yang...
Just saying, not shoving my beliefs upon everyone, it's just really my reply on this, I'll admit, to some it sounds ridiculous, but it's just what I well.

Cristianfags answer this. Your god says we should worship him so he can save us from sin when it is he who casted sin upon us. Did he not banish Satan from heaven unto earth? Why should we bow down for when it is his fault. Your god is saving us from his sin. Your god is falsely named a god. He might as well be Satan himself.

dont apologise for attacking religion, the automatons of the great mono-theistic (christianity, islam and judaism) religions spent a great deal of time attacking us and ironically eachother odd since its really the same god they believe in, just three different mahsias

Science clearly demonstrates that free will does not exist. This immediately rules out the possibility of a theistic God. Because if all of our actions are inevitable results of material processes, the concepts of reward and punishment are meaningless -> no heaven or hell -> no God. :D

Why would try to take away the motivation of all that is good? God, gives hope to those in peril and something to live for.

I guess it's the same reason euthanasia is banned in so many countries: no one's really sure.
