Sorry for the long title but when ever I was hurt as a kid my mom had this huge first aid kit she would get out for even the tiniest of scratches. My dad even though he is a surgeon would always say all I needed to to was alcohol swab it.

My injuries go more along the lines of:

Me: OW! ****! This hurts.
Dad: Can you get up?
Me: Yeah, I think so.
Dad: Then you're fine. Just walk it off.
Mom: Yeah, you'll be fine. Now get up and stop bleeding on that shirt. I just washed it.

For my stepdad it's if I can walk, breath, and talk then I can do whatever he can. Even if I'm vomiting, shaking violently and coughing up blood.

Same. My parents are damn vets, so they know which injuries are fatal and which aren't. If it's not fatal, they don't care. Even when I'm coughing up blood. Turns out it's fairly normal after minor injuries.

My parents basically did the same thing. Though they still knew that if it was bleeding badly (finger sliced from a blade or something) to stop it and all. Otherwise they didn't worry too much.

Folks. I have had my Achilles tendon snap like frozen silly putty, have my arm broken in a way that resembles a tetris block and ive had my jaw nearly broken in 2. But this...... This was a whole new level of pain. My threshold for pain was very high. This busted through that threshold with the speed of a bullet. I cant even describe the amount of pain. When i finally stopped screaming from the pain i told my dad, who was on the verge of tears from laughing so hard and somehow "out of concern" told me that "it was a little baby cut" and refused to drive me to the hospital for stitches.
No, it wasn't that wide of a wound, but it was more than half an inch deep and chipped the bone in the side of my palm. It has been 2 weeks and i still hurts like a ****. And it's healing, but it really cant be considered healing

"Why are you complaining? I can't even see your bone" -my dad, after I fall from the roof and landed on my eyebrow.

"I can fix that myself" -my grandpa, a second before pull my hand with all his strength to put it back on place when I dislocated it.

That's good parenting. Teaching you not to be a pussy!
in all honesty, that kind of stuff shouldn't be taken too lightly.
