I have found my opinion of France steadly growing as time passes. I am going to need a new European country to make fun of soon.

There's always Italy. France might have surrendered, but that was after they got stomped on pretty thoroughly.

Italy pretty much threw its hands in the air in both World Wars and yelled "Don't hurt me!" after somebody even pointed a gun in its direction. Remember, Italy was part of the Axis in WWII. You remember Germany and Japan just fine, but what did Italy do for the duration of the war? Nothin'.

My god, thanks for reminding me, after watching that movie I was going to start watching Band of Brothers, I guess I didn't have time for it and I forgot.

There's something similar my prof told our class about "reverse" or "eco" graffiti, where artists would power wash the walls in incredible designs. Unfortunately, the police being the police, they demanded that the walls be entirely cleaned or they would be charged.

"On the Normandy Beach," My geography isn't the best, but isn't Normandy a state in France and not a beach?
User avatar #116 to #91 - raamageddon (09/26/2013) [-]
Yes, but we're talking specifically about the shorelines of Normandy, hence the Normandy beach. Which just so happens to be where the Allied powers staged the D-Day assault to get a foothold on France, and Europe by extension. There were a few different points with different codenames, but as a whole, it's still Normandy beach. It's no different really than saying Miami beach, if you're from America.
User avatar #95 to #91 - chickendinna (09/26/2013) [-]
it's a beach that runs along the coast of Normandy.

It wasn't called Operation Neptune. It was Operation Overlord.
#74 to #71 - theblackosaurus (09/26/2013) [-]
No no, the invasion of Europe is Overlord, the beach itself is Neptune. Good try though.
#76 to #75 - theblackosaurus (09/26/2013) [-]
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Overlord Why dont you look around a bit before you act smart bud. It could help you. Especially if you want to source wikipedia.
#77 to #76 - Khaydarin (09/26/2013) [-]
The first sentence of that literally says it's the code name for the battle of Normandy.
#92 to #77 - theblackosaurus (09/26/2013) [-]
If you continued reading the first sentence, you could also see that Neptune is the name of the landing, known as D-Day. Where Normandy is. You know. Dont read the words you want to read, you could read all of it really easily.
