The near death experience is probably just an accidental sealing, thus creating what effectively is a bomb.

Probably went from near death to fully dead.

Chem teachers are awesome. mine taught me how to make alcohol, bombs, and light almost everything on fire. he really liked fire. i asked him what got him into chemistry and he said a failed experiment when he was in school which involved fire spewing everywhere.

TL;DR chem teachers like fire

He proceeded to teach us how to make meth and telling us that "it really isn't that hard"

I once was doing an experiment in chemistry that involved heating a test tube full of chemical in a beaker of boiling water. The test tube I was using turned out to have a micro crack in it that caused it to shatter, the chemical to spill into the boiling water, and cause a rather sizable projection of glass, boiling water, and chemical around the lab. I won several cuts, burns and chemical rashes, and yet still attended the rest of the school day. At the end of the year though I managed to have the highest grade in the class for lab safety!
Dear god, it hurt like hell.

in my Chemistry class, the bunsen burners have rubber ends that slide onto a gas valve thing, any ways, our burner malfunctioned and fire was shooting out of like 4 places, I don't know how but I got the gas turned off before we ******* died

In 8th grade science, we were tasked with boiling water using bunsen burners. I managed to melt the bottom of the beaker enough that, when we tried to lift the beaker off the wire gauze, the sides came up with the tongs, the base stayed on the base, and boiling water went everywhere. Might I add that the water was at a full boil at only 90 degrees Celsius?

I have a freaking welding class and we don't see this many injuries.....
#89 to #69 - theavatarspupil (09/25/2013) [-]
Well, welding is an elective, and is taken by people who can generally be trusted with fire and pointy things. Chemistry is a class that is taken by everyone (well, in my school anyway), including the people who really shouldn't be messing with so many hazards.

Chem teachers are the best, in highschool mine taught us how to make fireworks with Mg fuses and powdered Mg and other stuff, **** was cash
User avatar #8 - partialexposure (09/25/2013) [-]
Chem teachers are just the best, mine was called Rockett (no, seriously) and he used to just light the gas taps or set fire to the table for our entertainment. And the funny thing is his was the only science class I passed, so it says a lot about how you educate kids really, because I'm not the smartest.
