The lady at gamestop warned me that this happens when your xbox moves while your playing something, thankfully mine doesn't ever move and its on ground level.

As far as I know, you can take it to a video store or some **** and pay them about 5$ and they will grind away the scratched part of the disc with some machine and it'll be good as new, I've done this with a few of mine.
