no if i remember my books correctly the red road is younger than the yellow road because the yellow road obviously goes to the emerald city...now unfortunatly for most who havn't read the books on the Great and Powerful Oz they talk about this "war" and how no one can harm another... well in the books before the wizard was established it was chaos in oz and all beings including trees and such would harm each other for petty reasons. this is because there was only one witch born at the time and she was too youn to do much. after much chaos and such a false "wizard" aka basically a therapist was put in a new town called the emerald city. for the citizens of oz to find the city a yello brick road was paved. (this is over the course of a few decades) now eventually there were quite a few who didn't like the new "wizard" and rose up against him and caused basically the civil war of oz and it was a battle across the land then the good witches appear and use magic to soothe the tempers of all beings on oz (except other witches or else therd be no wicked witch eventually) but because the blood splattered all over it was too big of a job for the witches to just make it all disappear they transformed it into the red brick road as a reminder of the importance of friendship and kindness to everyone.... i'm paraphrasing quite a bit but this is the jist of it and i also havn't read the books in quite a while too so some details may be askew
