I am an atheist and even I know that Adam and Eve had multiple sons and daughters, and the laws against incest were not created until a good time later, as was the reason for the rule. Adam and Eve were perfect, no genetic abnormalities, and so for the first few generations there was no worry of deformations or other issues from incest. Again, I am an atheist, I just know how to read.

Genetically all people can be traced back to a single man and a single woman. Science has called the man "Genetic Adam" and the woman "Genetic Eve".

Science and religion aren't as different as many people think.

that's like saying a kiwi and watermelon aren't that different cause there both fruits.

There is a world or differences between then even if there are some things that are similar.

Your comment is probably the dumbest thing I seen all night.

In this particular case, can you not agree that science and the bible say the same thing, that all people come from one man and one woman?
User avatar #7 to #5 - sparkyoneonetwo (09/23/2013) [-]
I didn't say they didn't say that same thing about that but to say they aren't as different as people think due to a similarity is stupid.

Like I said Kiwi and watermelon both fruits yet that similarity dose not make them not as different as I think they are.

Lets take fruit out of it.

Have you read Genesis? The order of creation outlined there is strikingly similar to the order of evolution of life. The only major difference is the length of time, but nowhere in the bible (sorry bible) does it say what clock or calendar God was using. So for me the length of time is immaterial.
User avatar #18 to #13 - sparkyoneonetwo (09/23/2013) [-]

You are taking two extremely different things and trying to say they aren't that different for the fact that there is similarities.
No lets not take fruit out of it because what you are saying is a dumb as trying to compare fruit.

you are saying just because the order things happens is similar they aren't that different that's retarded.

To make a coffee table and to make a china cabinet that processes starts exactly the same way the only major difference is the time that it take. That doesn't make then similar .

Normally I would have issues with this, but I cant argue with the bible.
Do you really get tagged every time somebody uses the word "bible" on here?
User avatar #9 to #8 - bible (09/23/2013) [-]
Yea, but its not as much as you'd think.

Usually it's a wall of a paragraph pro or anti theism.

Usually terrible outdated logic, too.

How was mine?

Didn't even bother reading into the convo, but your initial statement sounds like a coherent thought.

Which is more than what can be said for most I get summoned to; usually pseudo-intellectualism, if such a thing exists.

Sometimes people will have a decent discussion without trying to prove each other wrong, which is nice.

And sometimes it's some anime convention I run into, apparently I'm an anime.

I do try to be original in my rants

You seem to be slightly misinformed. We are all related to this genetic "Adam" but he was not the first human being to ever live nor the only human alive during his time. He just had a lot of children who gradually spread their DNA throughout the population.

According to scientists all organic matter just suddenly appeared and the fact that the earth is perfectly positioned so that it can sustain life and that we are so intelligent in a universe filled with chaos, stars blowing up every few seconds and stars that could make Sol seem like a candle light by comparison.

Think about that.Take all the time you need.

Bible is still MOSTLY ******** these days.Too many people ****** with it to suit their own needs.
#24 to #23 - rprol (09/23/2013) [-]
or you could look at it like, earth was roughly positioned so that it could support life, everything else came from that? as far as how life began, no one knows for certain yet however there are several theories (with experiments proving that they at least work in labs) which posit that using the right materials (all of which would be present at the formation of the earth) and exposed to some sort of stimuli (radiation, heat, lightning etc) these transform into organic compounds including amino acids (the stuff which makes up dna). after that the process of single cellular life went on for another few billion years (billions of years, plural) before eventually multicellular organisms emerged. from there we came into being.

According to the bible when Kane (Their son, I forgot his name) went to the town he found a town of people, meaning that although Adam and Eve were the first, he made more.

I'm not religious but I've read part of the Bible, and in Genesis, God creates mankind during the first 7 days. After he rests, he forms Adam out of dust, places him in Eden, then forms Eve from one of his ribs. So according to the Bible, Adam and Eve were not the only people on Earth. Rather, they were the sole inhabitants of Eden for a short time, while the rest of mankind lived elsewhere.
