Thomas Jefferson was a deist. Not an atheist

Benjamin Franklin came up with the first motto on our currency. It was "Mind your business".
I like that much better.

We put 'In God We Trust' on our currency, because the people depicted on them are the American Gods.

"Only in America" followed by something that isn't really an issue = 1000+ thumbs as all the Europeans get massive nationalism boners.

Jefferson Believed in God but he was a Deist meaning he basically believed that God created the world then just decided to sit back and watch what happened

We also print Andrew Jackson on 20's despite the fact that he was extremely against central banking and lead the way to end the central bank of his time (which was extremely hard to get rid of btw).

I can't imagine he would be happy with being printed on the dollars coming from our monetary policy today.

Andrew Jackson absolutely HATED the idea of paper currency. Looks who is on the $20 bill, they made it as a joke to make Jackson mad. If you listen carefully you can hear him screaming and rolling around in his coffin every time you spend a 20.

How shameful is it to put In God We Trust next to the founding fathers who strongly believed that government should not have association with religion?

In God We trust was first put on coinage in the late 1860's, so while it's not a 20th century addition, it was not made the official motto and placed on all currency until the 1930's.

he was a deist ... thats not exactly atheism ... you do know that right?

The logical step from deism to theism is arguably enormous, when compared to that between atheism to deism, though.

I promised you a letter on Christianity, which I have not forgotten...The delusion...on the clause of the Constitution, which, while it secured the freedom of the press, covered also the freedom of religion, had given to the clergy a very favourite hope of an establishment of a particular form of Christianity through the United States; and as every sect believes its own form the true one, every one perhaps hoped for his own...the returning good sense of our country threatens abortion of their hopes and they (the preachers) believe that any portion of power confided to me (such as being elected president), will be excerted in opposition to their schemes. And they believe rightly: FOR I HAVE SWORN UPON THE ALTAR OF GOD, ETERNAL HOSTILITY AGAINST EVERY FORM OF TYRANNY OVER THE MIND OF MAN."

-Thomas Jefferson, personal letter to Benjamin Rush (all-caps are also on Jefferson memorial)

I hope OP knows that the reason currency and the pledge have "In God we Trust" on it is because everything was edit in the 50's during the red scare.

Our money ALSO says e pluribis unum, which means "out of many one" which contextually means "we stand together"

But hey **** facts right?
