No, i want to hear your reasoning, 6.379837 rounds to 6.38, why can't 3.141592654 round to 3.14, unless you're making a grammatical point on that it can't round UP to 3.14, in which case, I've wasted my time.

Sorry I can only input 2000 characters into a single message on FJ...
I had just finished calculating Pi to 1,000,000,000 digits when you replied yesterday, I'm trying to take the .txt file, and put it into a more viewer friendly program. Alas, Wordpad and OpenOffice seem to dislike the 953 MB text-only file.
So I am currently cutting and pasting chunks of the file into Wordpad.
I'm up to 227 pages of size 12 lettering with half inch margins all around the page, and it's just getting warmed up.

Here, have a screenie.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pi#Motivations_for_computing_.CF.80

For most numerical calculations involving π, a handful of digits provide sufficient precision. According to Jörg Arndt and Christoph Haenel, thirty-nine digits are sufficient to perform most cosmological calculations, because that is the accuracy necessary to calculate the volume of the known universe with a precision of one atom.

People aren't going to go around using 3.141592653589793238462643383 when 3.14 will so obviously suffice.

but how does it work??

5 is bigger than pi but pi is an infinite number so if you receive a pi tip then you would get infinite money witch is bigger than 5

transcendental numbers, infinite decimal points, which decrease by a factor of 10, so each subsequent decimal point makes it decreasingly slightly bigger. so it never actually goes to any large value

no, just because it has an infinite amount of decimals doesn't mean it is infinite. It will always be less than 4.

MFW people want tips in Australia...
I have quite literally spat in the tip jar at the fish and chip shop near my house.
(Our minimum wage is 15.50 an hour)

remember that he's speaking in Aussie dollars. they're not quite as valuable as U.S. dollars.
Though that is still a substantial improvement.

i get where you are coming from but the $ is on the highway to being worth NOTHING if some one still thinks american cash is worth a damn clearly doesn't understand the fact that we have a fiat money system with no backing and has yet to see the dark side of money related politics. american money is being devalued at a extreme rate. put it this way 30 years ago 25$ could buy 100$ worth of food now 100$ can only buy less than 25$ of food. id rather get paid in aussie dollars because i will atleast be able to know that in a few years the money will still have steady value. sorry for ranting when it comes to corrupt politics and money im like a book.

I think spitting is a bit too far
But it is silly when peeps want tips over here, the cafe me and my mum go to on occasion has a tip jar, and it's barely full every time we are there (Like 1/10 of it is full)
