Its a time thing, youtube was not as popular in 2008 as it is now, as such it stands to reason that videos posted today will have a chance of getting more views than videos posted 5 years ago.

Logic tells us that the older a video is, the more views it should get...

What happened to my comment? Anywho, I always see poems as 'books' because that the form they come in to me. And by that response I am pleased that you have good taste. I am sorry for being a colossal bitchy weirdo.

I don't know, maybe because YouTube isn't just for educational reasons. Just maybe, one of YouTube's purposes are for entertainment reasons. And, if we're assuming that, maybe we should assume that if a large nation has some sort of education. That maybe people have already read a poem such as the Raven.
Maybe, videos on YouTube are advertised based upon the number of minutes people have watched on that particular account. Now, I'm pretty sure 4 videos might be less than 652 videos. I'll have to check on my calculations for that

Basically, what I'm getting at is:
YouTube inherits ideas from capitalism. If an account has a lot of videos, each one is 20 minutes long, and gets a million views on the day of release. It's going to be advertised a lot more than an account with only 4 videos, each one 7 minutes long, and with only a few hundred thousand views.
It's all about what the viewer wants. And you're a ******* idiot if you expect a couple of hundred thousand 12 year olds to look up a reading of The Raven

Poetry recitation is meant to be a form of entertainment, and you have to be at least 13 to have a YouTube account.

And I never said anything about what YouTube promotes. I was pointing at exactly what you mentioned - "It's all about what the viewer wants". And the viewers are the "generation" mentioned in the title of this thread.

Excuse me as I am a mathematician that doesn't particularly like reading.
But poetry is mainly used to enlighten, not entertain. Is poetry used as a form of entertainment? Yes.
But poetry is mainly used inside and outside the classrooms as a form of teaching that helps students understand literary elements

All I'm saying is that with having an account over 600 videos, each one of them are more than 5 minutes. It's a much much greater chance of having a few hundred thousand views, than an account with only 4 videos. Basically, you're getting views, by getting views. It doesn't matter if the material is good or bad. I'll bet that if that 600+ video account was only about poetry, it'll receive the same amount of views.
