I really hope you people don't believe this. Present Haiti is the direct result of the United States. We took all of the trees from their side of the island because they had value. Without trees, any good soil eroded away. All they are left with is sand and infertile soil. JFK was going to help...but I'm sure you know what happened there. But, hey, at least they get to be free, right?

I'm dominican so I feel as if I have to say something informative or interesting but I've got nothing.
Hatians are pretty much our slaves when the cross the border due to the hard work and low pay. They're like our version of Mexicans.

My high school was 97% Dominican-American. I miss going over people's houses and being force-fed massive plates of deliciousness

Haiti used to have 40% of the world coffee production and over half the world's sugar production.

Now its Haiti.

Also they once took over the Dominican side of the island but they got kicked out.

The reason of the deforestation: A dictator (wich I d'ont remember the name) was scared about what happened in cuba. The guerilla won by hidding in the forest. So he decided to cut all the forest to keep the power (sowwy for the engrish quebecfag here)

It's incredible how gullible you people are, look at the border on google maps.
I lived in the dominican replublic myself for a year, and the only place that was truly up to standards was a huge private community called "Casa de campo"
