Robert Downey Jr, Everyone

This is probabky going to get quoted in every
publication just because I said it. And I' m nut even
saying anything. I' m not talking about my films, I' m
not talking about my life. and I' m not talking about
the world. And yet, the media will print it simply
because I said it And at this moment in time, t bet
there is an artist around the corner of this hotel, on
the street with a mind far beyond ours, but we will
never listen to him simply because he has not
appeared in a movie. And that is what is ****** up
about our emote."

OP, you do understand that by posting this, you are part of the problem he is talking about?

To be fair, he did say something brilliant...

Hmm. Let's go fishing. I'll go shout out my window and ask if anyone has anything profound to say.

I tried it three times. I got three profound quotes.

"MrrrroowwrlCRASH!" -Cat

"Chrk chrk chrk chrk chrk" -Crickets

"Shut the **** up honkey!" -Random negro

That's the first time anyone's called me a honkey.

Let's listen to Robert Downey Jr. by doing exactly what he doesn't want us to do by listening and quoting him and not listening to the artist around the corner of this hotel.

OP you DO realise that right now YOU are what's ****** up about our culture, right?
User avatar #26 - KEpToK (09/15/2013) [-]
I completely agree. I'm sick and tired of certain people gaining godhood status for being able to sing, act, and even simply being good looking. People revere celebrities, but you can be certain that when they finish work, they drive home and relax with family and friends, maybe open a can of beer and watch tv.

Ironicly this statement will also be quoted in every publication.

Lets see here. Not talking about our world, yet still talking about our world.

Well that depends. Is he far beyond us for the same reason we are far beyond everyone else, that is to say "human bias", the same human bias that trues to put us ahead for the sake of our own egos, or far beyond us for the reason of true talent? The true talent that he has that puts him truely on par with someone like Stephen Spielberg, but he hasn't been discovered because talent agents have a massive pool of "talent" to choose and sift from?

I always try to support artists whenever I can, but I can't help but feel that people don't get ahead in business because they're not ruthless enough. Creators never get discovered because creators are never true creators, they're businessmen. Creators sumply create. They draw. or paint, or form raw matierial into what you or me considers "asthenically pleasing", because creating is what they do. It is unfortunate, though. because the raw truth is that what society deems "successful" is in who can play the game, and jump the hoops of business to make e money to become known.

The real flaw is not that we don't notice these people, the flaw is that society tells us we should ignore these people, even though these people have more creative process in their little toe than half of anyone who's famous, simply because they create for the sole sake of creating, and not because they need to to satisfy a fanbase, or even a manager who's just in charge of "managing" their fame.

In short, I will respect the struggling artist who is "art"ing, despite barely having enough to live than someone famous who is arting to mantain their fame...

...I may or may not have had "a few" to drink tonight...

Am i the only one that doesn't think this isn't ironic. He says that when he says something useless and it get's qouted that it's ridiculous. But by using this example he shows people what is wrong with our culture. By giving this statement it isn't really the useless stuff he was talking about right?
