Let's say that you got punched in the face by a gentleman wearing a fedora, does seeing any person wearing a fedora make you careful or angry after said punching? Probably, but it shouldn't.

not unless I was exposed to people wearing fedoras being violent or committing a crime several times. Your brain doesn't form patterns after something happens one time, it needs multiple occurrences to find one.

I have a rescue beagle who was abused by a bald man. When Smokey met my Grandpa he hid behind my legs and his body shaked and shaked, and he does the same thing whenever he sees my neighbor who is also bald.

Like a person wearing a fedora would punch someone.

They'd probably just awkwardly walk past you, not making eye contact and when they'd get home they'd bitch about it on their blog.

If a girl passed by, they would most likely go home, stalk them on facebook, masturbate to their pictures, be creepy nice to them, confess their love to them, and when rejected, would go onto /b/ and bitch about how the girl was a bitch, and how they are stuck in the friend zone.

ASIANS CAN ACTUALLY READ MINDS!!!!!!!!!!!!
They can hear, and see what you're visually thinking. This is the absolute complete truth!!!!!

Asians hide their mind reading abilities by a lot of them having completely expressionless faces so they don't accidentally show facial expressions when people think things they don't like, find funny, astonishing, etc, and Asians segregate so their not nearly as susceptible to that happening.
Asians also segregate, and are untalkative to avoid accidentally saying things that are similar to what people are thinking and going to say.

Try thinking, and visually picturing things that are as wild as you can when you are around Asians, and look for Asians who give people dirty/particular looks for what appears to be for completely no reason.

PLEASE SPREAD THE MESSAGE!!!!! THE WORLD NEEDS TO KNOW THIS!!!!!

You're right and you're wrong.

It has the basic properties which you consider needed for a chair, although it doesn't look anything like a chair you've seen before, yet you know it's a chair so much that you mock it now because it looks like a chair to you.

You derped at the fact that we considered the chair a chair because it looked like a chair.

The point was, it DIDN'T look like a chair. It had some very basic attributes that we connect with chairs which led us to assume that it was a chair although it didn't look like a chair we had ever seen before.
#124 to #84 - lolsrsslybro
Reply 0 123456789123345869
(09/13/2013) [-]
But it looks like it COULD be a chair. Just because we've never seen a chair that looks like that doesn't mean that we can't subconsciously judge it to be one. Making the connection IS recognizing that something is similar or alike. If you've never heard/seen of an ostrich in your life and you saw a picture of it, would you assume it to be a bird? It's not like any other bird you've seen before.

... That's the point of the post. The fallacy you're making is that you're taking human connections as something that is obvious rather than dwelve upon how amazing our brains are for spotting the similarities.

well yes, the human brain is amazing. but relatively speaking our ability to categorize things with similar characteristics is not really an amazing concept (in my opinion). it's a natural ability that other animals are also capable of.

You're one in tens of thousands. You're not going to make a significant difference.
Unless you post like crazy, which people also seems to dislike. Take phanact, for instance. I'd imagine he likes what he posts, and he thinks he's adding to the site by doing that. Yet people hate him for it and consider his content litter.
In the end, you come to the site not to enjoy your own content, but to enjoy that of others. Every once in a while you contribute, but mostly you just skim through that of others. To make a reference to music again, artists don't listen to their own music like we, the consumers, listen to their music. They listen to other music by other artists of their liking. In this way, posting content doesn't add to your enjoyment of content on the site.
