Man, this place looks expensive. I feel like I'm wasting a fortune just standing here.

I think the floor is supposed a visual representation of Einstein's discovery that mass and energy can bend space itself. Also known as... gravity! This is a choppy explanation of the concept, but basically, because the Sun, Earth, etc. are so massive, they bend the space around them, which is why things closer to them are more attracted to them .

October 12th, 2013, one minute before opening hour.

The games are released this day. Outside stands fans of all sizes and levels of interest. Some are obsessed, greasy basement dwellers, and some are little kids with their mothers, being pushed back by the aforementioned basement dwellers. The smell of sweat from the excitement fills the immediate air around the crowd, almost creating a miasma.

30 seconds left. The basement dwellers in front ready their stances. Some are even wearing protective gear. The "casuals", as they're called by the people in the front, are happily chatting with each other, already planning out trades.

5, 4, 3, 2, 1... The doors open. Basement dwellers are rushing in like a wild horde of greasy elephants. They all suddenly make note of the floor, and one by one, the mighty fatties fall down. The floor is covered in a morbidly obese carpet, leaving the casuals to calmly walk over them and pick up their copies.

For hours they lay there, unable to get up. Some even try to throw Poké Balls at them, thinking they've come across a Horde Encounter of Snorlax. Eventually they get up on their feet. The store is nearing closing time, and the lard carriers realize that all copies are have been bought. They walk back to their respective basements, crying. The shame of having to pick up their game on the day after release causes a few to commit suicide.

That's a pretty cool store.

The problem is that it only works from one specific perspective.

Yea except this would only work at that specific spot. Anywhere else it just looks like a random assortment of lines

I actually went to that store. It's a FNAC in Paris.

For a best effect, look down to your feet, don't look up.
