Red Bull, they allowed a man to base jump from space, sponsor the winning team of the WRC for the past several years. Own two separate F1 teams, one of which has won multiple world championship titles. They have their own NASCAR team, created an international air race series. Have funded multiple Starcraft 2 tournaments (amongst other e-sports) and sponsor more athletes than I care to count.
But guys, they're JUST an energy drinks company.

Flying a balloon to 120000 feet isn't a "space program". It's not space and it's not a program. What was researched, is there any continuity to the mission? Semantics, bitch!

Can someone explain why that jump was so difficult?
User avatar #60 to #37 - swimmingprodigy (09/11/2013) [-]
He had to jump precisely because if he turned or something in midair, it wouldnt be possible for him to stabilize himself and if he tried opening his parachute it would just ensnare him in it. Skydivers can control their position in the air pretty accurately, but that's all through manipulating the air flowing around them. This wasn't possible for him because he was at such a high altitude that the air was so thin that he couldn't control anything.

I don't know but when does skydiving from space contribute to any future research? The majority of it was just for curiosity and exploration...

I get what you're saying but you just don't hear about nasa's accomplishments, this just a **** ton of publicity. Nasa actually does a lot of **** we don't hear about, they have a probe thats about to exit our solar system for ***** sake(it was launched in the 70s but still), thats pretty impressive if you ask me

At least NASA can actually take you to SPACE with their SPACE program.

I don't drink energy drinks, but I have to admit that I fully support Red Bull because of all the crazy **** they do. Yes most of it is extreme sports, but it's so cool.
#61 - anonymous (09/11/2013) [-]
I don't think we should be funding red Bull OR NASA. Why the hell are we spending money on space again? So we could put some guy on a planet for the hell of it, and go broke? To take pictures of space so we can have neat wallpapers? Why don't shut down NASA, and start rebuilding our infrastructure, paying our debt, do something about our horrible education status, and start fixing our OWN BACKYARD before going off to play and jerk off with E.T. in space.
User avatar #43 - jacklane (09/11/2013) [-]
just remember, OP may not be from a country that has a good space program.
