It's named following the IUPC rules for naming any organic chemical, no one really "came up" with the name, but someone did come up with the system for naming organic compounds

As much as an ass that guy sounded like, he is correct.

Monopoly was made off of The Landlord's Game which has not geographic center.
It is simply a an apartment building by the looks of it.

As for the game Monopoly itself, it had many different changes between its inception in 1906 via patent as The Landlord's Game it eventually turned into the game we know as Monopoly and was bought and produced by the Parker Brothers in 1935 here in the States.

In the U.K. the Newbie Game Company bought rights to The Landlord's Game and changed it to Brer Fox an' Brer Rabbit in 1913

Either way, what the **** happened to Illinois Ave. I would imagine there should be one as Illinois is the home state of the game's original creator. Elizabeth Magie

But the problem is you didn't bring any facts, you just got hot-headed which is a prime way to lose an argument even if the facts are on your side.

How did I not bring facts? 'No it's not, the original monopoly was meant for people to understand buying and owning land, dealing with taxes and other things.'

He didn't deserve me explaining it to him, I wanted to make him look stupid for insulting me, and not knowing what he's talking about before I tell him.

Well, you didn't bring the facts. If you want to know what "bringing the facts" looks like, you can read my comments.

In my comments I proved what you simply stated. What you said could simply be conjecture. I gave names, places, the evolution of The Landlord's Game into Monopoly, and dates. You simply called him a moron.

If your mission was to make him look stupid you failed. He kept his cool, you started calling people names. You lost your cool, therefore in the passersby eyes he appeared to have won.

>I'm guessing this is some stupid american monopoly.

This is the only reason I didn't sit there and explain it to him. He could've said, Hmm, I don't know, why is that?
I don't have to sit there and draw it out for him. So basically he won by saying it doesn't matter where it was invented, because the original was made in London, which is ********, then proceeds to say that it still doesn't matter because the most famous one is based around London. Yeah, he sounds like a real winner. Maybe he could just accept he was wrong, and no keep digging himself down into a huge hole. He's one of the people that think his country is the best because he lives in it.

You should probably drink some chamomile tea or get one of those weird Swedish stress toys.

I didn't say he was correct, I didn't say what you said was wrong.

What I said was he appeared to those outside of your argument to have his **** together. Therefore if somebody who doesn't know the facts were to happen on your little happy-time, he would assume that you're not as right because you can't control your emotions.
Also, he may not believe you for the same reason.

I am also an American, what he said was a bit unnecessary. But I didn't lose my **** over it, I found out the facts and delivered them to him without much effort.

If the point of your comments was for educational-purposes, you didn't accomplish anything.
If the point of your comments was more for blowing off steam, then as long as you blew off that steam you accomplished something.

It was the second one, except I'm not mad, I don't want to educate someone that continues to spew ****. He's got his **** together? All he did was keep reverting your facts back to 'Well, I can't be wrong so I'll just keep changing my statement."

First, he wasn't "spewing ****" there are some facts that lend to his belief.
a)he's going to see the UK based one more because he doesn't live in the US
b)The Landlord's Game was sold and popularized in the UK a little earlier than Monopoly was in the US

He didn't have any hard facts I never stated he did, you didn't present any hard facts either. You described some of the game's origin but you didn't give any actual factual evidence.

Yeah yeah, I know he wasn't worthy of your time to look it up and give it to him. Luckily for both of us, my time is cheap enough.

Either way, I'm not arguing any further. I've laid out my explanations clearly and concise enough.

That's still kind of iffy, it depends on what you mean by "well known".

I've only ever seen the one set here in the states. Which makes sense because we love ourselves, but also because if it is to be sold in the US it should have US landmarks that would be recognized by our citizens.

I would imagine it is likewise for those in the UK to have seen more UK-based boards.

If you're talking about sales, I wish I could give you sales figures but my very brief research hasn't been able to find any.

I would imagine that the US version there are more US citizens than UK citizens, i could be wrong I'm just making a semi-educated guess.
