Common logical fallacy. First, you are confusing a sufficient condition with a necessary condition. This is a sufficient condition where not having the ability to read the sign does not exclude you as a train. The only information you have is that if you can read the sign, then you are obviously not a train. It is then an incorrect assumption, as there is no further information, that not reading the sign means you must be a train.

This is also a syllogistic logical fallacy:   
Socrates is man   
Men are mortal   
Therefore, Socrates is mortal   
   
If I named my dog Socrates:   
Socrates is not a man   
Men are mortal   
Therefore, Socrates is not mortal

I too, took PHIL 101.

Not sure if that's a stab that this is all simple stuff and does not make me a genius, but I would agree that this is simple, which only perplexes me how so many people do not understand it. (Also, I've never taken PHIL 101)
