Actually, since the new ? function appeared, I've noticed that people are less inclined to thumb anything now. Thumb someone down, they and their friends go to your profile and demand to know why you didn't think the comment was awesome. Thumb someone up and someone who hates the content/comment will go to your profile and demand to know why you liked it.

Yes, exactly. And I'm pretty sure this is how we all found out about Potterwatch, so that might have been the point. Unless Potterwatch started thumbing everything down just for that very purpose to see people go crazy.

Actually, I wonder if people thumbing everything down and messing up the site like that resulted in the level 2 fiasco. But then a few trolls and troublemakers who were above level 2s slipped through, only now there are less of them thumbing others down, and admin decided so help me if he shows up and confirms this we could take care of them ourselves and added the '?' so we'd know who they were. And of course you've seen the affect of this, with the calls in the content saying we should all get potterwatch banned by thumbing down everything he says.

But it definitely appears to have an impact on thumbing. You notice the "your comment made it into the top 100 with 30 thumbs up" complaints/jokes going around? It's because people are too afraid to thumb anymore.

Yeah, I can see problems with it in the foreseeable future. Like, I could go crazy and scream at you because you weren't the one who thumbed the comment even though you found it interesting. Not that I am, just giving an example. Or I could go on the guy who did thumb me up's profile and thumb up everything he's ever said because he did like the comment.

I'm normally not much of a grammar nazi, but when it's bad enough to be beyond readable, of course I have problems with it.
