my goodness, neither christians or atheists seem to have much of a firm grasp on the true meaning of the bible. Quoting the bible on either side is incorrect, unless viewed through a fundamentalist view. NO person educated in the church actually believes that the bible it the literal word of God, rather through the contextual view of God expressing a divine truth through authors that are limited by their imperfections and weaknesses. This means that the bible has mistakes, and some parts are not written well. The bible must be understood through a lense that accounts for the culture of the time, such as women and children being second class citizens. its about the meaning of the bible, not the definitions of verses. Read genesis chapters 1 to 3 for example, there are two separate writers in here telling two different stories about how the world was created, but if you read deeper then the words, you can understand that it doesn't really matter. God made us in some way that was expressed in a way that the authors could understand at the time. This doesn't mean evolution didn't happen, but that it was beyond what the writers could comprehend at the time, so they made it as something they could.

Sorry for the mistakes I'm sure I made in this comment, I've been drinking tonight, but it bothers me when either Christians or Atheists misuse the bible for their benefit.
Oh, and sorry for the rant.

uhm... it somehow seems strange to me.
and i think onle the catholics have that strange point of view...

either the text is sent from god, than it is what it is. or it is not, then it doesnt really matter and has no real value as a truth.
