Cloppers, not to mention the over zealous fans who issue out death threats like tictacs. Or the ones that are so far removed from reality that they don't see why some behavior is acceptable in cartoons, but not real life. It's the same thing with the furry community, really. I don't care if people watch the show, I mean it doesn't affect me at all. But, I gotta admit, when someone identifies as "brony," it turns me off a little bit.

That is what most rifles (both civilian and military) that are semi or full-auto are called. AR-15, M4, AK-47 or 74, SKS, these are all assault rifles. And in Texas they are all completely legal to obtain with enough money. My friend has an AR-15, and I don't like it because they just seem too overly complicated, and I would much rather get an AK-47, plus the ammo is cheaper.

Yeah true, but you have to go through the NFA Which is complete bull ******* ****, and pay a $200 tax stamp PLUS another $15,000 for a M16 Receiver that was registered BEFORE the FEDERAL Ban on Machine guns in 1986.

THEN Wait for about 6-12 months The longer is more likely nowadays because of the ban that scared people into buying a **** ton of tax stamps for SBR's and MG's And all that ****.

I'm fully aware.

However, an Assault Rifle is defined by a weapon that is select fire between semi to full or semi to three round burst, has a detachable magazine, and fires an intermediate cartrdige.

Just because it's an AR-15 or an AK doesn't make it an assault rifle. And an SKS IS NOT an Assault Rifle. Are you on drugs? It's a semi-auto Carbine.

I should know, I own one and own several firearms. Just because you see M4 on my Colt LE6920 doesn't mean its an assault rifle. It's just an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle.

My bad, you are correct on the select fire. I was going to mention the mags, but I didn't know if I was quite correct. Regardless, how would you define an AK-47 that has been limited to semi-auto?

We in the gun culture like to call them Modern Sporting Rifles.

REMEMBER This WAS SAID BACK IN 1860... It was the TOP of the line back then for the Military.. Now look.. they look on them as a hunting rifle..

Heh, nice. It's very true, the guns we consider novelty now, were top of the line military weapons. Same can be said with WW2 era bolt-action rifles that are now merely hunting rifles. My issue with the people saying that the second amendment isn't for giving us military weapons, is that it says we have the right to bear arms so that we can form a militia. That means being able to fight governments, and we can't do that even with assault rifles these days.

It's no problem, it's just too many people end up confusing everything with an assault rifle and it gives the wrong impression of things. Which is what people like Feinstein thrive off of.

I'd define it as a semi-automatic AK. Although, good luck actually finding a real AK-47. Barely any were made and if you did find one it would cost well over 10 grand. Most 47's are confused with AKMs, which was the functional and mass produced AK made in the 50's and are still produced today.

However quite honestly as cool as AK's are; they just don't have the accuracy consistency as for example my M4 does. You can shoot semi-accurately up to about 300 metres with AK platform rifles. While I'm capable of popping a target past 300 metres with an AR-15.

Point is....they're kind of outdated pieces of hardware. I know the design is trusted in and is known for its reliability but it hasn't gone under any drastic change since 1947 that improved its design to compare to changing firearm designs.

Oh, they're definitely not superior in accuracy or performance for sure, I just dislike the sheer amount of mechanical pieces in an M4 or AR-15. With enough training I'll be able to take care of any jams and such, but if I have a gun for emergencies and such, I'll want one that can go years in terrible conditions (I'm saying if something forced me to be in the elements for several years) without ending up in terrible condition. Fewer parts, means fewer parts to replace, or to jam.

But I agree, they're highly overrated for their performance, and for home defense I'd much rather have an AR-15 or other M4-based weapon. Only issue I have with them is the ammo costs and jamming really.

I've fired a few thousand rounds through my Colt and it never jammed. I mean of course if you get mud in it it's going to jam, but the same thing will happen with an AK.

The best way to keep a gun from jamming is taking care of your firearm. Cleaning it and keeping crud getting lodged in places it shouldn't be.

As for home defense I would infact not recommend an AR-15 for home defense. Especially if you're using a 5.56x45mm platform. The 5.56 is promised to go straight through your target and hit what ever is behind it. Which is extremely dangerous is a close environment like a home. You don't want to shoot a 5.56 through some ass hole that's in your house and have it hit your wife/daughter/son/whatever thats standing behind him.

For home defense the traditional firearm is a 12ga shotgun. But, personally? I'd use a 1911, .45 or a Glock 9mm or CZ-75 9mm. Whatever I happen to have with me at the time. Those rounds aren't meant to penetrate, they're meant to lodge into your target and bounce around. Plus it's less clumsy if you don't have CQC training.

That's true. Though, for home defense, I've always felt the 20 gauge is underrated. 20 gauge with buck shot will still take down any intruder. Just not a bear or something.
